they sound pretty promising, but i don't like how it looks like the "raine maida band" and not Our Lady Peace

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I don't think it looks like a "Raine Maida band" and it never even popped into my head. While for sure, Raine is one of the driving forces of the band, to me it never struck me that the band was gravitating towards one person....

Although I don't think it's "the Raine Maida band", I can see what you mean. Raine was kind of like the director sort of thing... But that makes sense. The others can't tell if another player is doing something wrong if he's playing as well. Raine (who wasn't singing very much) was more impartial, and could help direct them.

I like the sound of this new stuff. It's really hard to tell what it will sound like in the end, since they're still working on everything from what's played during what part of the song to the speed it's played at.

Oooooooooh, the videos! I get it. I'm slow, sorry. And, yeah, I agree with Rob. Plus, we never saw video of them doing this ever before, it's probably always been that way.

I really like the song on the first video. Sounds very promising. Man, I can't wait to hear these finished. *excited*

I can understand what you mean by saying Raine Maida's band. Seems like he's taking the lead and Steve is just like: "Oh, alright, I'll do that".

I'm currently downloadin the second video...
And yes, everything they've showed us seems VERY promising, hopefuly.

Cheers.

And a couple of things I also feel like saying...

What the fuck was Jeremy hitting his gear like that? :wtf:
And it LOOKS like Steve is the less confortable playing... seems like he's not 100% confortable playing with them. But he's been doing a pretty good job. It musn't be easy to be on his shoes.

Cheers.

Well this is Steves first "Offical" album so he has a right to be nervous. He cant really go by what the band had done before hand like on Gravity.

Yeah, I'm hoping these songs aren't just warm-up type things... because I really like the sound (especially the first video).

There's something about it that sounds like the old stuff I miss. Probably because it's got more ambiance instead of just Steve taking the lead guitar title too literally.

Well, I've decided not to form an opinion. There's a lot more going on in their psyches you know, I'm not one to judge who they are.

Not to mention that there was less than 3 minutes of 4+ days of material, I think it's kinda hard to form a sound and informed opinion.

Unless you're looking for something to complain about that is ;-)

Personally I thought it was great of the band to let everyone hear this stuff when historically they've pretty protective of all of their writing until the album is done... but that's just my opinion.

I kind of wish that Raine sang a few words in there...all he did was moan and tell what Steve and Duncan what to do....
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
