Post by Fabio_kun »

Don't you guys think OLP should realese a B-sides album? :D

I was just checking out Trapeze, Home... and there had been a while since I last listened to those, and dammit... they should have realesed those :(

Can anyone help me listing b-sides songs?

Trapeze

Cheers.

I don't mean to criticize, so please don't take it that way, but OLP doesn't really have any "b-sides" per se. A "b-side" is a song on a single other than the song being marketed. For example, if they release(d) a Made of Steal single and OTiF was on it as well, OTiF would be a b-side. A b-side is not merely a "rareity" which is, I think, what you are looking for. The term "b-side" originated when singles were released on media with 2 sides (ie. vinal record or cassette tape). They would always put the single they were marketing on the a-side and the b-side, well...you can guess where that would go

Anyway, if you're refering to "rareities", this list is from Rich and Shelly's site...

Whatever
Sleeping In
Disgusted
Home
Trapeze
Out of Here
Yourself
Julia (Piano)
Nobody's Wrong
Sorry
Blind Anniversary
Neon Crossing
Julia
Not Afraid
Our Time is Fading
Denied
Supersatellite
Talk is Cheap

(as you know, some of these songs have been released, but I guess they were rareities at some point  )

Brutus is an honorable man
It's just coincidence that oil men will wage war in an oil rich land
And this one goes out to my man taking cover in the trenches with a gun in his hand
Then gets home and no one flinches when he can't feed his fam...

But Brutus is an honorable man...

Well yah.. but now a days most people consider a b-side a song that never made it on to a cd.

... they do? :freak:

I'm with Troy on this one. A b-side is a non-single track on a single.

I think a B-Side is a previously unreleased rareitie, which can often be found on singles.

Rich & Shelley's list is up to date. The ones that seem to have been released (such as Supersatellite, Denied and Neon Crossing) are rare because they are the versions from the "Holy Grail", the demo tape.

I think they're considered rarities, not b-sides.

Eminem has a song called "The Kids" which is song about drugs  and it was released on an import single and I think eventually on an import version of the Slim Shady LP. I think that's what is considered a b-side.

I wish they'd release a recording for Trapeze. I have about 4 different live recordings of it... and Raine says in one of them that they had recorded it but it was still to be realesed.

I want a studio version of that SO bad. I like that song a lot :D
And Propeller... hehe, that would have sounded funny.

Cheers.

Yeah...
I believe there must be someone taking care of the bands stuff. Like, there probably is someone from their families (for example, someone's brother) that has an all OLP collection... or something like that.

I'm pretty sure they keep everything they've recorded and mixed in the studio until now. They wouldn't just throw it away...

Cheers.

Most of it was probably kept at Arnyard Studios before they left Lanni.

seriously though, there is no point in speculating on this release right now, because it won't be released until the band calls it quits. thats if it ever gets released at all.

The thing is, there is a reason they didnt put the songs on the album.....because they didnt think they were good enough, so they would never release an entire album of stuff that they didnt think was good enough to release before.....it's too bad though, cause i would love to hear all of those rarities.
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

the plan:

one of them has to commit suicide and then his wife has to get in a legal battle with the remaining members until they finally release the music thats been recorded because somehow it leaked and everyone involved decides that making SOME money is better than none and everyone turns out happy except of course the guy that killed himself wasnt very happy, or else he wouldnt of killed himself.

oh, wait...did that already happen? damn :(

The only problem there is that (at least from what I know) Chantal is not a bitch who would kill her husband and make it look like a suicide...
