Staind- 14 Shades of Grey

Post by CluMsyNavEed »

So has anyone listened to this yet? If so, what are your thoughts? I have listened to this cd twice so far and my first opinion of it is....... WTF? This cd is very mellow and toned down from their older stuff.... It's an ok album, but I myself do not like the new sound..... I'll give it a few more listens ..... But at this point I'm thinking that Aaron Lewis should have done this album acousticly.... It's just lackinig something

Hey, Np.... You should still check it out, but just don't expect it to sound as good as previos stuff.... I suggest dl'ing it first... I mean you may actually like the album... This is just my opinion :)

I just might do that......I'll see what I'm able to get off of Kazaa Lite.

Kazaa Lite didn't help me w/ the new 3EB cd, every track I downloaded wound up being the same audio.

You need to get IRC .... you can download a lot of the newer albums anywhere from days to weeks in advance and the quality is usually retail

"Sh*t, id be f*ckin' scared if us were opening for...us"
-Dave Grohl on why the Red Hot Chili Peppers only let the Foos play a 45 minute set when they toured together

"baby, i wish you were my baby,
ill make u make a baby,
let's make electric power,
in fear u should not cower,
cuz girl i will protect u,
i promise not to sex u,
and IiiiiIiiiiIiiiiiiIiiiiiIiiiiii...." - Dudez a Plenti

"all by myself
cause I don’t want to drag you down, hold you down
cause you’re a friend
i blame myself
i guess you think it’s funny now, funny now
it's such a shame..."

Excellent album in my opinion. Very emotional, even if it is whiny at times. Great mixture of hard rock and slower melodious acoustics (well, or severly tuned down electrics).

Staind have fallen hard over the years. I remember getting their first major label album Dysfunctional, and it was awesome. Then for some odd reason Aaron Lewis started being a whiny little bitch, and Staind became a joke. I wonder what would have happened if "Outside" never became a hit? Staind are a better hard rock band, not a sing-a-long acoustic band. They lost me as a fan a long time ago, and I won't even give 14 Shades Of Grey a chance - because the album tells you all you need to know; it's 14 versions of the same song, over and over again, with bitch boy whining about his dad beating him, or some bitch leaving his bald ass. What? I hate Staind...

I could not agree with you more on that statement

To each his own. I like them either way. They're still talented and make good songs.

how can you say deftones album is not so great and call this good music. deftones have been doing this since 1989 and all these other crap bands get more popular.

Uhm I didnt call the Deftones album bad and popularity has nothing to do with it. Deftones and Staind both make music I like. Sorry I don't agree. I'll try and get myself to hate Staind more so I can fit in here.

i only have limited staind exposure but what awful lyrics
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

I was wondering what happened to this one hit wonder...
