I don't understand how one album can make someone dislike a band... especially in this case when Gravity wasn't that bad. It's not like they went from Rock group to barber shop quartet, I mean come on it's still rock music just in a different direction. I bet if they put out a cd that sounded like Radiohead or Coldplay we'd all be praising it, but it would still be them going in one direction or the other and I don't see what the big deal is about that.

The fact that some of you felt compelled to verbally assault Gail really sickens me. I for one hope she does come back. SHe's done more for this community than the vast majority of you people, and you should know who you are.

As was said in the above post, Gravity is a different part of OLP, it's not like this is OLP as a whole, it's just one small era in the career of our fave band. Heaven forbid they take a step back and surprise everyone.

someone can give all they want to a community, but if they're going to be an ass about it, then they shouldn't exactly be praised for it, now should they?

she wasn't being an ass. Theo came in with his ego and tore her apart. Anyone would respond as she did.

I agree with all of A_Primetime_Fool's posts on this board with all my heart. I don't like Gravity as much as the other albums, but there are a lot of songs on Gravity that I like. 'Innocent' has pretty much captured my heart, and the acoustic(sp?) version of it which I only just heard has made it my favourite OLP song besides 'The Birdman' and 'Superman's Dead'. All of OLP's songs have meaning for me, but a few of them(Like 'A Story About A Girl' and 'Do You Like It?') have less meaning for me than others. This board has given me a lot to think about, and I have enjoyed reading the posts(Acually, some of them seriously disturbed me for reasons I can't figure out, but that's beside the point). I'm getting a little worried about the direction the band is going, but I will support them and keep listening to their music. :)
"We're all in the gutter, but some of us look up to the stars, and you can be happy in the gutter if you don't know to look up. So the people who can become addicted and driven and sort of obsessed by music are the ones who look up and see the heights they can try to get to. But that drive never lets them be happy where they are" - Mike Turner

i couldn't agree with that more!!! olp has been my favorte band since i can remember and they are a rarity, i can listen to all 5 of their cds without skipping a track, that says a lot. each olp album is different from one another, and it's hard for me to pick a favorite, it depends on my mood -certain days one is my favorite and then a week later it changes. honestly, at first i was kind of disapointed with gravity, but as i listened to it more it grew on me. yes it is different, but now there are times when i am really in the mood to listen to it and i have come to appreciate it for what it is, just as i appreciate all of their previous music. olp puts their hearts into their work, each and every song on every album is quality, i really respect that. when they turn into one of those bands that comes out with a hit single, then you buy the album and every other song beside that one sucks then i will be worried. i am very curious to see what their 6th release will be like....especially since to me all of their cds have been different, and i look forward to that. but i have to add that i will be disappointed if it's kind of the same as gravity. okay i'm done!!!

So that's where I have to disagree with you, yes Gravity's different, and you have to "roll with the punches" (I remember before Happiness... came out Mike said in an interview that if people don't like their new music, they should just stop listening).

Mike was right......but if this is true, many people here on the CM are no longer really OLP fans. I like your posts so far, very constructive and its nice to get straight up opinions. Feel free to kick back........have a few beers with me 'ur something
Oh, btw.......don't ever take any of my replies as being a dick.........I'm very sarcastic at times and don't mean to offend a soul in here.

Oh yeah, I'm totally agreeing with you guys that Gravity is a great album. I'm still as much of an OLP fan as before, it's just I really really hope that the next album isn't Gravity 2... and the band's sudden reliance on Bob Rock scares me into thinking that.

Gravity might not be my favorite slice of OLP's work, but it's still great stuff, and I'm not dumb enough to give up on a band I've supported for close to a decade just because one of the albums didn't reach my unrealistically high expectations.
