Little Rant o mine

Post by InUnison »

Well, I'm sure that everyone here can agree that Gravity was the worst of all the OLP albums hands down. I find myself cringing at the sound of the singles as they play on the Egde (Torontos rock radio station) and listing to the old OLP cds constantly. I haven't listened to Gravity in well over 5 months. I got my best friend into OLP and he enjoys Gavity upon all others. Is the time for old school fans of OLP over?

I remember hearing Raine say once that its great Nickleback is getting so much fame but he wouldn't trade his fanbase for anything. Well, Im afraid thats what happened. I find myself listeneing to Gravitys songs once befroe getting sick of them (BBTS and Not Enough not encluded) when I can easly listen to any of the previous 4 albums fifty times over and still love it just as much as the first.

What brought this along? What caused such an outrage that we call Gravity?

I am and will be an avid OLP fan. I WILL be there when they come to town and I will stand beside them no matter what they do in respect for Naveed, Clumsy, Happiness, and Spiritual Machines.

But we have to ask... why?

Gravity is done and over with. A lot of fans seemed to enjoy their new song Not Afraid. I'm more interested in what their next album will sound like than why Gravity was Gravity.

Lock? I think so.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Am I the only one who thinks gravity is not that bad.....in fact i listen to it more than Clumsy thats for sure. I can listen to all the albums beginning to end like 1000 times over and not get sick of any of them. I think the next album will rock though....hopefully it includes Not Afraid and Our Time Is Fading, and 10 more awesome rock songs.....cant wait.........and everyone stop hating gravity....its actually pretty good!!!!!!!!!!
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

InUnison put it the exact way i felt when gravity came out, it's a very good rock album and is all quality work, but it's not a good OLP album
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

"Hold on, hold on children, your mother and father are leaving, hold on, hold on children your best freind's parents are leaving, leaving,.......*AHHH*! " - Death From Above - Black History Month

The "truth" has been spoken 6 millions times already. An opinion is just that... an opinion, and we already know how everyone stands on Gravity. I agree... leave it alone already.

Ok, let me claer a few things up. Yes, it was my opinion (even tho I didnt really word it that way). And it is old news (thank god) but when I wrote that earlier today i was in a pretty pissed off mood. In all Gravity was not a bad rock album. With songs like All for you, BBTS, etc, I have to say that it was still better then what alot of people are producing today. When I say that it was a bad album, Im talking compared to the other albums.

And now the whole Gravity subject for me is dropped.

I come to these sites to celebrate the love for OLP we all share, not to bash what we can and I hope noone feels hostile towards me. I am actually a really laid back person but like I said I was mad and this is the first thing I looked up when I got home. Sorry if I offended anyone about what I said about it. After all, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

And of course I remember you Suz :)

Gravity is a great CD, the only problem is they picked wrong singles for it.
The fact that Not Enough isnt a single still pisses me off.

They shouldve did it this way

Somewhere out there (1st single)
All For you (2nd single)
Sorry (3rd single) Radio single
Not Enough (4th single)

I liked Gravity. Sure, it's no Happiness... or anything, but it's still a good cd. Most bands out there would kill to release a cd like this one. It may not be as complete as a Spiritual Machines, but it's better than anything we could do on here.

Theo. Shut up. If the person wanted to know our feelings on the cd, he could have checked the other threads about how people think Gravity is the devil.
