As we stumble forth into the inevitable
Tears streak not our faces.
Bravely,
Boldly,
We claw each other senseless.

Too deaf to hear our own shrill cries
echo through the valley;
too daft to even recognize
this common, hopeless plea:

"May our final exhalation
ring no louder than precedent!
May the end of this fine line
be marked no bolder than it's length!"

We all must make some room
in our collective hearts,
take ourselves in wholly
while we are swallowed by the dark.
