compared to a guitar and drums...i cant stand that new white stripes song it is 2 minutes of pure hell. perhaps it is just i cant stand the white stripes.

The only reviews I read are from AMG, and most of them are bias as well. I have to admit that AMG represents public opinion in most cases.

Sites I go to for music includes pitchfork and fakejazz. I'm sure people on Pitchfork gets paid but people on Fakejazz doesn't, and consequently, reviews on Fakejazz are extremely wandering and goes absolutely no where, I don't even read those reviews, I just look at the names and look them up on AMG or download samples of their music. Pitchfork reviews are better written, but in most cases they go on pages about the background of the band and by the time I get the actual review, I already got tired of reading it and the window is already closed.

Sometimes you just have to filter those reviews out, and in most cases even when the review indicated that it's the perfect sound you're looking for, you'd still have to hear it.

Forget about reviews! Listen to the music!

sorry about that, I thought he was a singer/songwriter with just a guitar, don't hear much about him in Holland unfortunately.

I think the new White Stripes got five stars. What can you do, it's hard to find one person to review a cd and give it justice. Elephant seems like nothing more than De Stijl #2 with the blues feel to it. It's a good cd and all, but nothing that deserves as much acclaim as it gets.

The biggest problem with reviews is that people take them far too seriously. They're just there for entertainment and to give a global impression of what the album is like. People decide what they like for themselves anyways (at least I hope nobody buys albums because they had a good review) and it's more fun to read a bad review, especially if it's about a band you don't like. I like the reviews in magazines like NME because they're sercastic and have humor in them.

Their only opinions and people need to realize that and only take them at face value. And it's not just major writers... half of the people on this board would've given Gravity a bad review, and I certainly don't agree. If that has any relevance... I'm not sure. Just pointing out that it's not just commercial writer "know-it-alls" that can give bad reviews...

And I just find the White Stripes annoying and weird. Break all the artistic barriers they want, they're still weird.
