Don't trust critics at all. Do you people realize that they get paid to get a rise out of people? I mean, if people cream-puffed every review, then no one will want to read it because you know what will happen? If you trash the cd, at least it makes for more interesting reading.

Download or buy the cd, don't trust what other people say about music. They're heard thousands of cds and they have to be pretty jaded by music after years of having their life revolve around it. Let your tastes evolve without the help of a magazine, they usually don't know what they're talking about anyway.

i only trust those reviewers because they are not so commericialized. i find it very irritating when i read a review of an album and the dumb ass criticized it for not being catchy enough or being too deconstructive or too smart or whatever.

any time any reviewer comes down on an artist for being musically innovative, they lose all credibility with me.

The best reviews nowadays come from cds that have a lot of hype surrounding them or the band is "different." I love the White Stripes, but I can tell you this, if it wasn't a two piece band bringing back the MC-5 kind of music, they'd get no attention. It's like, if you add a bassist to that band, they lose a chunk of their edge and respect from most critics.

Good music doesn't get noticed very often. When it does, it usually leads to a band's total artistic breakdown. I suppose if good music doesn't get these great reviews, they can keep off the radar for a while.

but seriously, the thing i hate about critics is when they CRITISIZE musicians for being 'too smart', and make out like it's a bad thing when you have to actually think about lyrics to understand them. a classic example of this is that crap review of ime on the chartattack site.

I used to be a book critic, so I often tend to defend the critics. Honestly, critics just give their opinion. They might have bad arguments, or you might not agree with them, but it's just their opinion.

AFI – Sing The Sorrow

Wat doe je als je niet van hokjescultuur houdt?. Een plaat maken die in geen enkel hokje thuishoort, of eigenlijk in ieder. Punk, gothic , emo, rock. AFI mengt het beste van alle genres tot het veelzijdige Sing The Sorrow. In principe bestaan er maar twee soorten muziek: slechte en goede. Dit hoort bij het laatste.

Something Corporate - Leaving Through The Window

De nachtmerrie van iedere pianostemmer. Bij het jonge Californische vijftal staat dat instrument centraal in hun energieke poppunk. Hoezeer Punk Rock Princess ook rockt, de piano komt het beste naar voren op de rustigere nummers Cavanaugh Park en Globes And Maps. Jammer dat hun ultieme ballad Konstantine op het debuutalbum ontbreekt, maar hierdoor is wel ruimte voor wat meer aanstekelijke up-tempo nummers.

What do do you if you do not love box culture?. A plate to make which belongs in absolutely no box, or in fact in everyone. Punk, gothic, emo, rock. AFI mix the bests from all genres to the multi-purpose Sing The Sorrow. In principle existence there but two types music: bad and good. This belongs to the last.

Pretty close. The plate is supposed to be an album and the box thing is hard to translate, can't blame the computer for that. It's about "playing a style of music that doesn't really fit anywhere", in the words of Davey Havok himself.

I will, when they're finished and if I don't have a million other things to do, like now, but I'm not doing any of them because I'm on here, but translating takes a bit of more time, although it's just short, it's not easy to find the right words in another language.

doesn't Pete Yorn only have one instrument? But I know what you mean and I agree. I don't find Elephant that great. The White Stripes are a hype at the moment and everyone seems afraid to say that they don't like them, because then they might not be cool and maybe readers won't buy the magazine anymore, or something like that.
