The Streets

Post by bovine »

Does anyone else here like (or know of) The Streets (aka Mike Skinner)? They're one of the best new bands I've heard for a while. I would especially recommend "The Irony of it All" and "It's Too Late" if you can find those to d/l.

Brutus is an honorable man
It's just coincidence that oil men will wage war in an oil rich land
And this one goes out to my man taking cover in the trenches with a gun in his hand
Then gets home and no one flinches when he can't feed his fam...

But Brutus is an honorable man...

i've heard some of their songs before from my friend's brother. i got a good laugh out of it at first (it came on directly after coldplay so i thought it was coldplay rapping as a joke), but it actually wasnt bad. I think i'll run off and do some downloadige.

I personally think The Streets are pants

"don't mug yourself" is a good example of this.

I have "Original Pirate Material." Impulse purchase after everyone said it was the greatest thing that year.
It's not bad, a couple of the tracks were pretty cool ("Let's Push Things Forward" and the last track whose name escapes me are two I can remember as being good.) It's just that I was never that big of a hiphop fan, and was sort of expecting something different. What that different was, I cannot tell you.

I'll probably go dig it out again and give it another listen once I can find the area of my bedroom floor that houses all of my CDs.

It's good to know that some others have at least heard of them.
