Why else would they put footage of the waterstreet show on the satelite if they didn't think the show was amazing..remember..the venue was over 100 degrees, they must have been hot and exhausted. OLP are people too, we can't expect them to be super humans able to stay out an hour after a exhausting show. lets not be selfish now.

Hey all,

I have a message from Steve for all the Rochester people. Sorry for it's lateness, he wanted to send it right away, but he was having issues getting online and with the Europe tour he hasn't had a chance to give it to me until now.

Here ya go:

-----------------

Hey everyone.

This is Steve. Just wanted to say sorry that I didn’t get a chance to see all of you who waited outside after our Rochester show. I thought I would get to talk to you all. I know it was seriously cold out there, but I had some family and friends come in for the show and was hanging with them and we just ran out of time, I barely got to talk to them, too.
Hope you all enjoyed the show and I’ll see you all next time. Thanks so much for all your support.

Steve

I am still waiting for the apology on playing the same 20 songs on a 7 month long tour. When that happens, let me know, maybe then I will listen to one of their cds again.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

You're kidding, right? You should be glad you're getting those 20 songs! Steve, being new to the band, can't play all of Mike's songs. Would you rather have a bunch of half-assedly played songs or 20 well-practiced, well executed songs? When a band's been around as long as OLP, with as much popularity as OLP, they need to play the hit singles at concerts (for new-ish fans) and new material (to get the new stuff out to the deticated fans) and then throw in a few others (for us hard-core fans). With that and a new guitarist, I'd say they've got a pretty good setlist going. If it wasn't for Gravity lacking the artistic appeal of the other albums, they'd have an astounding setlist (think if the non-single Gravity songs in the set were songs from a new album that you really adored).

[/my opinion]

I made the mistake of seeing them multiple times in a year, and I learned, and now regret it. Sure, I should be grateful for seeing them, but I'm sorry I hoped for something more than the same song over and over again. And what a surprise, when they start changing their setlist up, and adding songs like The Wonderful Future into it, they're about 300 or more miles away from Michigan. Then they start playing new stuff, in different countries.

Take the standard setlist they have. Add In Repair, Automatic Flowers, and Neon Crossing. That is what I got from 5 concerts last year. Tell me that you'd be happy after hearing the same setlist in the same order month after month, then punch yourself, because you'd be lying.

I never got to see OLP before 2001, so I don't know if this is true or not, but has OLP ever really went on stage and played a series of different songs, or have they always stuck to the same basic setlist show after show?

I suppose I am spoiled by other bands that actually *ask* the people in the crowd what they want to hear, and actually having the band play it. The bands I like have crazy setlists each show, they're never the same.

Catch 22 asks the people in the front rows of their shows what songs they want to hear, and they play them. Alkaline Trio never has a generic setlist, they will always throw old songs that aren't really popular in their shows. At ALK3's last mini-tour, the only song they played at each of their shows was "Hell Yes." Every other show had different songs in different spots, and they didn't even play Radio at the Detroit show. They played Madam Me at Detroit, and they didn't play that since like 2000.

OLP sticks to the same songs over and over again, and I guess I am just burnt out of the same shit. Sorry for wanting some variety in my music.

Ah, but if you want variety, you should go out and see 5 different bands instead of OLP 5 times. :P

I see what you mean about other bands changing their setlists, but OLP does have those factors restricting their setlist. It would be nice for them to change it up a bit, but I'd just be glad to get to see them play anything.

After the new cd comes out, I will get back into them, there's like no option for me not to. I will see them multiple times, and if they don't change their setlist at the different shows, I am done with seeing them live. I figure if Steve can put an album out, then there's no reason for him to not be able to change the shows up a lot and actually keep the crowd in suspense waiting to hear each song, instead of being able to name off the setlist from memory.
