alex, have you ever gotten your hands on a volume of the Oxford English Dictionary? now that is  It has, I believe, an entire page dedicated to the word "tragic" and even more for the word "catastrophe."

I'd like to look up:

God
Objectivity
Void
Peace
Everything
Nothing
a priori
Nihilism

...

That's about it for now.

God: simply an Anglo-Saxon word. Variations include "gud" (Swedish/Danish), "guth" (Meso-Gothic), and "gott" (German)

Objectivity: the best I could find was object, Latin, "obiectare", to throw against, oppose, or cast towards

Void: Old French, "vide", empty. Or Latin, "uiduum", to be bereft of something

Peace: Latin, "pacem", accusitive case of "pax", peace, originally a bargain

Thing: Anglo-Saxon, "thing", a thing, also an assembly, meeting, council

Every: Middle English, "eueri"

No: short for none: Anglo-Saxon, "nan"

Nihilism: Latin, "nihil", nothing

And for Sarah,

Because: due to a cause: French, "cause", Latin, "caussa"

Those were a bit boring, what about this...

Catholic: Latin, "catholicus", Greek, "katholikis", "katholou": on the whole, in general. made up of "kath" for "kata": according to, and "olous", everything or everybody

therefore "Catholic" means "according to everyone" :D

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

"Catholic" meaning "according to everyone" is aggravating.
