they thought it sounded like shit when they played it so they took it out of the set for good
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

I wish I had seen the Wonderful Future live. For now my favourites are the Birdman, Superman's Dead and 4AM.

Hmm... if we're going for a song that gets played a lot and always sounds good, I'm gonna have to say either Are You Sad? or Starseed (with that incredible intro ).

If we're going for a more rare experience, I'm gonna have to say The Wonderful Future, or Raine's intro to Is Anybody Home? (specifically the one he did in Atlantic City... my GOD was that amazing... download it... it's on the hub)... dunno if the latter counts as a song, though.

And, you know what? Their cover of Drive's frigging amazing, too. That's not an "OLP Song", but I feel it needed to be mentioned. ;)

OOOOOOOOOH! In Repair! How the HECK could I forget that! Specifically how they played it in November 2002. Raine screamed the "Take this time to figure it out. Know the wire, the fuse, the things that you doubt. The wheels, the air, the metal, the mouth. Something, something, something." part... slowly screaming louder and louder til the end of that part... frigging AMAZING. I loved it at Villanova, and I love it on the bootleg of a German show I have. Download people. Seriously. Haha.

Naveed, but not the medley with Life, just Naveed and then Are You Sad is also amazing live.

hm. i'm surprised clumsy isn't up here yet. when i saw them, clumsy blew me away.
also, mafia seems to be getting a lot of flack...that was one of the best songs the night i saw them. mind you, they're sort of weird with performing...the guys all give out a solid performance everytime, but some songs just get weak on certain nights.

all of you talking about performances from spiritual machines are driving me insane. i'd adore to hear those. so badly. are you sad...i can only imagine what that would be like.

I definitely second Clumsy. And also One Man Army! That's the first OLP song i ever heard... and it's been my fav ever since... and maybe because of that, it was the one i found the most amazing when they played it live.
