this is in reply to that article writtten by Jam, first of all , IME sounds nothing i repeat nothing like OLP esspecially Gravity, even the old ime stuff i never saw how ppl got them mixed up, the new record if anything should be cutting them down for sounding like art rock bands like Tool and such, there's no way that guy has heard both bands albums, because there's not a single song on the new album that sounds like anything olp have done, esspecially on gravity.........wow i can't believe the comparison was even made, how about you other people that recently bought IME?

way to come off sounding like an idiot with no intention of seeking intellectual enlightenment from anything. i suppose you think that "real" music must be stripped down, conventional, have laymen lyrics and stick to music industry formulas? you're just as bad as people who say they love james joyce because they have no idea what the hell he's talking about. the only difference is that you're on the opposite, yet no more reasonable, side of the spectrum.

I'm surprised by the amount of people that have never heard of I Mother Earth (They've been around as long as OLP!)... I remember back in '94-'95 when OLP and IME were the big buzz on the Canadian rock scene (pretty much every single/video released by either band was almost guaranteed #1 on the radio rock charts/Much Music, etc). Anyways, if you haven't already, you guys should give I Mother Earth a listen! Their new CD kicks ass, but their oldies are equally good.
saying olp and ime sound the same is like saying steak tastes like chicken. he talks about 'prime number time signatures' - i can't think of a single olp song that isn't either in 4 or in 6. he talk's about 'overlong songs', i think the longest olp song ever is naveed at 5:51 (which is pretty long but not that long), whereas the songs on the new ime disk are often almost 8 minutes (quite a difference). and as for incomprehensible lyrics, has this guy heard gravity? he goes on to say that no one who like 'one more astronaut' could like this album - well i liked one more astronaut, and i very much like quicksilver meat dream. i think that sometimes reviewers are just in a bad mood when they write these articles, or else they posess a combined intellegence no greater than the average chimpanzee.
I read a article in a magazine once that was taking about the probability of bands making come-backs. For I Mother Earth it said '2/5, but 5/5 if they change their name to the eerily simular Our Lady Peace.
I actually have a couple of their cd's, but i dont even think ive listened to the whole thing. bah, whatever. didnt they change lead singers a couple years back?
i used to get seven mary three confused with out lady peace before i really got into OLP. but that was just because of the names. i kept thinking our lady mary? no that's not right. our lady seven? no...dammit our lady three? yes that's it...uh...dammit!
Whenever death may surprise us, let it be welcome if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.
