I wonder how Raine feels about the US vs. Iraq now....
Just watching the news last night and seeing how happy the people of Iraq and especially Bagdad are. I wonder if Raine would change his stance on the US involvement in Iraq. I don't even know how many people called up Larry King last night who were from Canada, saying they were "ashamed" at their Prime Minister for having no involvement in this (in reaction to the what happened in Bagdad yesterday). I know Raine was planning a big speech for the juno's about the war. And with all the stuff now about the the former PM supporting the US and even Don Cherry using his spot on Hockey night in Canada to support the US and rip on Canadians for booing the war at the Montreal hockey game a few weeks ago. I just wonder if Raine's stance has changed. Very little civalian deaths and Iraq is finally free. I think the US did a great job living up to it's word on this war.

and i think you see what people want you to see on tv. try telling "very little civilian deaths" to the person who lost their mom/dad/child. they lost their loved one, who gives a shit what the final numbers were.

Most of those civilians who were killed, were killed by Saddam's forces, so I don't think you can entirely blame the Coalition for that. And I'm sure their family understands that their death was a sacrifice for a much grater cost: freedom.
Also, I think the Coalition has handled things brilliantly. There have been very few civilian casualites, and the nation is on the brink of freedom after only a few weeks.
And about what's on TV being distorted, I kinda have to agree. But, you must remember, a large chunk of what was on the U.S. news stations came from IRAQI TV STATIONS. Most of which are atleast somewhat loyal to Saddam.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

the majority of the 'IRAQI TV STATIONS' are under control of the coalition forces. that was one of the first things they did after attacking iraq.
the really only positive thing i have to say about the war is that i'm glad there wasn't more casualties. too bad the US had to spent so much money on bombs that they could of spent on the education or health of the people of Iraq.

I don't know much about the war, but I think the Americans are doing a good job at not killing civilians.
I also think something had to be done to get Sudam out of power
and now that he might be dead the Iraqi's on the news in
Baghdad look happy and free, even thought the people on the news are probably paid to look happy.
But, I still wonder if Raine has changed his mind.
Undecided

Life is waiting for you it's all messed up but were alive. Life is waiting for you it's all messed up but we'll survive.
Very little civilian deaths?? I read in the paper today that they can only estimate at the death count cuz the government or whatever is refusing to give out the exact amount .. they estimated of at least 2000 soldiers that died and over 60 innocent bystanders and civilians and 10 journalists .. so yeah .. I wouldn't say that's very little.

I'm from Canada and I'm not ashamed of our Prime Minister for not taking part in this .. in fact I'm glad that was his choice and we had nothing to do with this. I know a lot of people who feel the same way.

is that Iraqi or US? cause the US have only lost a little over 100, and Iraq has lost close to 50,000 troops.

Hows that funny to you? I haven't heard of any friendly fire deaths for awhile now, but it does happen. But I think its extremely sad you find it funny. Also, why would you think thats a cover up? Wouldn't it be worse than an Iraqi killing them, as far as pride goes? And 50,000 seems too high for an iraqi death count.

I have to agree that all the US media is very biased for the US. I can get the CBC but really havn't watched much war coverage fo taht.
What I'm watchign the most is feeds from the BBC which a PBS station is running at nights.
The other day on any US news all you saw was the toppling of a few Saddam statues. Over and over and over and over .. and over again. It was getting very boring.
That was a very small part of iraq and a very small number of people and doesn't well represent the entirety of Iraq.
I believe that was pointed out by the BBC when they showed the same clips (Just one time through not a marathon)
I think Bush summed it all up in one of his first speeches where he told Iraqi solders not to touch those oil wells.
At this point there's rumors saddam has fled to Syria along with all the WMD. Wouldn't be surprised if Syria was next on our list.
I could go on about the war but I admit I'm not the most informed factually about this and just saying what comes to mind.
Wether people are speakign factually or not another unrealted list I'm on has been torn up by war talk and I don't want to stir up anyhting here.

Most Canadians are communists and pussies. If the U.S. were to invade Canada, it would take 12 Marines and a guy on a horse. You better be lucky we have no beef with you Canucks up there, because if we did then you would all be singing a different tune, and I'm not talking about "4 AM".
