OLP Demo

Post by I AM ME »

i just found the demo's on the hub, wow, i actually think it might be my favorite album, i don't know why though, the drums arn't the best olp has, the guitar is very interesting but probably not the best, the production isn't great, and the bass is average but there's something in it, some sort of raw energy or lust that makes it amazing, i think i can see why they got signed so fast
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

Get "Blind Anniversary". It's the best demo, IMO.

Could I get these demo songs off of someone? The Hub and my computer aren't very compatible to say the least, so maybe over MSN/AOL/ICQ?

Yeah. Just the demo. Has nothing to do with the Sorry from Gravity.

I like the demo Sorry more than the Gravity Sorry; but that's just me.

Plus, I friggin' LOVE the extra lyrics to the demo version of Neon Crossing; that version is way cooler than the album one.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

The demos are very good yes, but I disagree, I think Sorry from Gravity is the best song on the album. I guess the Gravity version just speaks to me, I can't explain it.

I think the Sorry on the demo tape is waaaaayy better than Sorry from Gravity... and I even thought that the Gravity Sorry was one of the album's strong points.
I think my favourite part of the Demo Sorry is when Raine lets out those two extended screams at the end ("Yooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-ahhyeah-e-yaaa-aaaaaaa...")... I can't explain it, the feeling you get from hearing that is just awesome! So much built-up emotion being released right there...

01 - Nobody's Wrong
02 - Sorry
03 - Blind Anniversary
04 - Julia
05 - Supersatellite
06 - Denied
07 - Neon Crossing

Awesome demos. Most bands suck when they start out... it's insane that OLP was always this good.
