Enjoy :)

The e-mails keep coming fast and furious and with them comments concerning the new video and what business it is of mine to include footage of a world map being consumed by the American flag. One such e-mail even want so far as saying that because I was a Canadian I had no right to comment on the United States in such a fashion.

They were totally correct, of course. And having realized that I have since returned to making maple syrup, playing hockey on the pond, going to see the RCMP horse parade, making sure the igloo doesn’t get too covered over by fresh snow, feeding the Huskies, ice fishing, fending off polar bears, wearing out my “hooked on phonics” tape in an attempt to stop saying “aboot”, snow shoeing, practicing for the Iditarod, waxing my canoe, and apologizing to idiots for just about everything that I say or do.

It’s wonderful being Canadian. Now if only we could figure out how to get our hands on electricity and running water.

Over the past 48 hours I have received hundreds of e-mails. Some from people who are angry, some from those who threaten, many from those that attempt to disprove, and many from those that agree but do so in a way that goes against the point of me saying anything in the first place. I have been asked in many of those e-mails to define where I stand, so I have decided to do just that. Know then that the language used in what follows is universal.

Where is it that your heart is to be found? When your eyes open in the new light of the morning do they fall upon someone that embodies your joys? And in that quiet, that subtle haze of euphoria, do you feel that all things are possible? There is nothing to stop you, you know. It really is that simple.

I have been lost myself. So many years fighting the wrong fights, not realizing there is only one fight worth fighting. The fight for us. For you and I. For those that we would call enemy because of some government that they might dislike just as much as any of us do our own. We’ll fight for all of us so that our children need not fight the wrong fights. We’ll fight for us so that we might all awake to have our eyes fall upon our joys. And this fight will not be with guns. It will not be with tanks, nor planes, nor ships, nor missiles, nor fear. We will fight this fight with nothing. We will fight it within ourselves.

What is freedom? It is something that can truly be defined by laws or by the principles of nations and the people that govern them? Where does freedom rest in its truest form? Is it in your heart? Is it something that you believe in strongly enough to kill for - or strongly enough not to?

In the end blame is pointless. Cause and effect is what history is made of. And as long as we use effect as an excuse to cause we will never know peace within ourselves.

Today, at this moment, I am not a Canadian if it pleases you to hear it. I am with everyone and so a member of all nations. And having said that, all of this must be stopped.

Hehe. The first one is hilarious and true, the second one is beautifully eloquent. And where can I find this list of "invaluable inventions"?
