Go for an Ibanez Soundgear Basses. I paid $525 for mine and it has 5 strings.
If you have $1500 to mess around with, spend only around$500-$700 for the Bass,and use the extra money to buy yourself a good bass amp(Ampeg))
The choice is up to you though but, just follow my adviceabout spending your money. Hope this helps.

Yeah, sadly enough, I am not into the 5-string kinda thing. But I like the Geddy Lee bass a lot.

Gah, I don't like the end where you do the tuning at. It just looks so ugly. I want a bass with all the keys on one side so it's easier to tune the bass, ya know? Anyways, I think it looks cooler with all on one side.
