the first patriot act brodens the definition of terrorist in section 802 (?) i believe. it's around there anyways.
basically criminals are now terrorists, terrorists are now enemy combantants.
did you read through the area where it says gathering information, even if it's legal, can now be called an act of terrorism? that's going to make pretty much of of my favorite websites into terrorist groups.
oh, ok i was looking for it in the first one. yeah, section 802 pretty much says criminals = domestic terrorist, but i think you have to do something that violates all sub-devices listed.
PATRIOT 1 wrote:(Sec. 802) Amends the Federal criminal code to: (1) revise the definition of "international terrorism" to include activities that appear to be intended to affect the conduct of government by mass destruction; and (2) define "domestic terrorism" as activities that occur primarily within U.S. jurisdiction, that involve criminal acts dangerous to human life, and that appear to be intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, to influence government policy by intimidation or coercion, or to affect government conduct by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping.
as for the gathering of info thing, no i haven't seen it in 1, that's the Act i'm reading right now. there's alot of things in this one that don't bode well with me, especially Title 2 (Section 200's series).
