People Who Hate Our Lady Peace

Post by Furious George »

Does anyone you know simply despise Our Lady Peace? Feel free to describe why they hate OLP, or rather... why you hate them.

Here's my contribution to the topic:
There's a girl I know who is intelligent, friendly, and complete with a very interesting personality. One problem though. She hates OLP. She is also extremely pop-oriented, no I mean EXTREMELY pop-oriented (the likes of Aaron Carter, and N ' Sync blah). In my attempt at introducing her to the wonderful world of OLP, I had her download "Thief"...

She seemed to hate it with a passion. She even claimed that the line "as the world explodes we fall into it" is suicidal (a joke of course). Now its a big joke to us whenever she says OLP is suicidal.

I decided to give her a softer and gentler song since she was so pop-oriented, "The Wonderful Future". She said Raine sounded like a duck.

Other examples of her dislike of Our Lady Peace, in reaction to "Is Anybody Home" .."They sound like wolves." She also clearly disliked "Superman's Dead" which is usually instantly likeable by anyone I know who listens to it.

Sigh... :freak: [/color:3jf5162y]

Maybe she's just set in her ways. Diversity in music is a good thing.

I'm not complaining about her dislike for OLP, and I also appreciate diversity. I'm just telling you all why she hates it...because its "suicidal".[/color:17yjreil]

It's not that people hate OLP (at least here in my town) is just that nobody knows who OLP is. Or they know who OLP is but never really fully checked them out. I mean, I know so many people who know OLP for one or two songs ("Is Anybody Home," "Supeman's Dead") but can't name one of their songs. My "cousin" knew OLP for "Is Anybody Home" and she really liked the song so I bought her 'Happiness...' for her birthday. Be happy to know that she just recently bought 'Clumsy' and loves OLP.
As for all the other people that like that one song by OLP, it's all up to them. If they want to check out OLP, more power to them. If they don't, well it's their loss.

"Is Anybody Home" is a good song to hook people with because it's so damn catchy.

There are some people that are just set in their music listening habits. My friend Andy for example listens to Rock and a little Alternative from the early to mid 90's and he doesn't say anything, but I know he would rather be jammin out to Pearl Jam or Alice in Chains instead of OLP on road trips. I guess for some hardcore music fans, OLP is just a little too pop. For others, I think they fail to grasp the significance and meaning and the DEPTH of the music/lyrics.

It sure is. It's such a pity too. I often tell people they are harrassing me or the group of people and I'm this far [--] from reporting them. Yeah, it's drastic, but I never hear it anymore! :)

My friends like the song "Life". Not too bad for them. :)

Gay is a weak excuse for an insult.
If you're going to insult sombody, call them something that's actually offensive, like Illiterate, Untalented, etc...

Pretty much none of my friends knew who OLP was until I became a fan and now...well lets say that they've been force-fed

Some of my friends used to insult them and say that they hated their music, but they only did that to piss me off, evil people  All my friends now love OLP, I have this knack for converting all my non-believers

About using "gay" as an insult, that is one of the stupidest, most ignorant things a person can do. People just fling it around like its an insult or taboo, and its really offensive. Some of my good friends just happen to be gay and I love them to pieces! I scream at my mom whenever she uses the f-word (f*g), she has a major ignorance streak in her.

Most of my friends dun like OLP all that much, but they were willing to give them a try. One of them couldn't even be forced to listen to them, saying that they were "gay" and "weird" and that Canadians are dumb (which is a VERY ignorant thing to say), and that Limp Biskit and Linkin Park are much better. Needless to say, I hate him (for what he said and for his ego and cruelty to his friends, and me), and me and him got in a huge fight this morning.

Putting that asshole aside, my other friends actually kinna like them. My best friend, who's not picky about anything (including music), loves them to death. Another of my friends likes them a little, and his little brother LOVES One Man Army. Another of my friends recently told me he liked Life.

PLUS. There's a kid in my math class who sings Superman's Dead every now and then XD. He first started singing it when he saw my shirt, and when I asked where he had heard it, he said he'd heard it on the radio once or twice and remembered the song when he saw my shirt. I was overly happy XD.

Wow, that was needlessly long.
