Slow songs are better in my opinion. When the bands I listen to makes a slow song, it means there's real emotion in the music and they want people to really pay attention to the stuff they write. I find the slower songs are, the more touching they come off as. I know some of you will doubt what I say, but that is what I feel. Usually when there's slower, more atmospheric music in a song, that means the lyrics are there to be focused on, not just something that is a part of the music. The lyrics come off as more important than a lame guitar solo and fast riffs in slower songs.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

for me, fast songs are better because of their level of energy. in terms of slow songs, i prefer the complex over the simple and the minor key over the major key (climbing up the walls, exit music, karma police, lucky, ana's song [sort of], and steam will rise). songs in a major key that dont have the energy of a fast song are kind of boring to me. i still like the song, but not in the same way. as to the general rule of fast songs not being as deep as slow ones, i would have to disagree. i know plenty of songs that are both deep and fast paced. IAH?, In Repair, and Electioneering are examples. i also think it may depend on your personality.

Hey, Steph disagrees with me on yet another thing! What a surprise.

as much as i love alk3's cover of halloween
afi version > alk3 version

i'd say

I was going with the generalities. I can't think of a time we actually agreed on anything in the past 4 or 5 months. So yeah, it's just another area of disagreement, seeing that when we used to hang out she would always play the slower songs on cds, but yeah, fast is better.

I like this name, I think I will keep it for a while. Steamer Trunk was alright, and Good Mourning was just downright misleading to some, and anyways, Mister Chainsaw is perfect for my mood, or something.
