The OLP Edmonton Experience. (A good read)

Post by teelow »

Lets just start this off an the bad foot.

Seether, Finger Eleven, Are all pathetic.

I don't much care for the hard rock where you can play 2 power chords and no-one would know the difference. And the fact that all your songs sound the same except for that 1 "hit" that everyone heard on the radio but never bothered to go buy the cd or to even download.
And how in the hell did Seether get a song on the Daredevil soundtrack, but NOT OLP.

Sheesh.

And how can we forget the Trailer Park Boys, hey! Who doesn't love 3 red neck pot smoking alcoholics who need a shave, shower, and to stop shitting their pants? The fucker LIT UP A FUCKING JOINT ON CAMERA.
IN THE FUCKING OILERS LOCKER ROOM RIGHT BESIDE GRETZKYS JERSEY.
HOW DARE HE SPREAD HIS DRUGS THERE.

Fuck, I almost left the colliseum.

Fuck OLP, why would you invite them to come along? Why? I loved you so much, but like me catching you choking the chicken, its a little less love to go around.

(Also I won't go into a big rant about the bitch who consistently felt the urge to hit my seat every time there was a beat. I almost killed her.)

Now. The good foot.

Lets get this noted: George Strombolopolus from Much Music came on stage! He reported about how all those cameras were indeed for the DVD to be released this spring, as well as a live cd! so hey! Its confirmed!
How lucky us Edmontonians are! neener neener!
Hey I'm the guy in the (slight) distance with a grey jacket on at the right side of the screen!

Started a bang with All for you, which smoothly moved to do you like it.
Raine dancing like a fool, and Steve rockin out! Jermemy in his knee high ronald mcdonald socks and his frizzy hair, made him look even nerdier!
And hey! Duncan shortened his hair, but that beard kept going!

Everyone sang 4am, we all laughed when Raine started groping Steve and then collapsed on the floor, we gasped when he almost tripped, and we all had our chance to be blinded by the VERY BRIGHT LIGHTS.
Ouch!

Olp performed the new "Our time is Fading" song. Which reminded me of Seether...(sigh)
They also performed that "Drive" song which wasnt bad.

All in all the concert wasnt bad.
I wished they had a big tv screen, and some pyro but damn, I guess they can't afford it with the Trailer Park boys coming along. :(

But, the best part was when Raine decided to end the concert by running to my side of the colliseum.
So, I raced over there, and said "Whoa, I'm like 6 meters away! Very cool."
"hey, hes coming closer"
And hey, He walked passed me to leave, and a gave him a good shake on the arm.

Thats right, I was groping Raine Maida.

And if I was lucky it will be on the DVD.

Bet none of my friends have done that.

Wow, that was surprising.

Seether's show wasn't that bad. But musically, i didn't really like him. It's creepy how similar the lead singer's voice is when it's compared to Kurt Cobain. It's eerily similar... it's seriously creepy. I do like their song on the Daredevil soundtrack though.

Finger 11 sets was way too short. They rocked when they played. James and Rick were going crazy on the guitars, and Sean was his normal chilled self. Their new material was dissapointing though. Scott was growling and yelling the whole time and wasn't singing. They should have cut off part of the Trailer Park Boys to give F11 more time i think.

OLP was great. That pretty much sums it up. I liked Our Time is Fading, it sounds about 10000000000 times better in person. But yeah, OLP was great, that's the best i've seen out of them live since they toured Naveed.

I didn't care much for Seether.
Finger 11 was good. I enjoyed their set...twas too short though
The Trailer Park Boys......I didnt find them that Funny.

And OLP of course. Man they were damn good! Man seeing them when you are right next to the stage is totally awesome!! Man!! The song of the night was definatly The Birdman! During the middle of the song the whole band stopped playing and just Steve playing. He was certainly was tearing up his fret board then!
All in all...bootlegs cant compare to a live show. and Methinks Im gonna be on the DVD...the camera man filmed us a few times!!

Its a shame that the wont be back for a long time now.

Yeah you're right. Thanks for putting that nicely, you could of said something like an ass, but you kept your cool. :)
I was on a high last night, so I dunno. Kinda pumped.

I'd like to say that both Seether and F11 are Great performers, they really are, but I didn't like the songs.

hey, Last time they were in Edmonton there was a T.V. screen. To see what the main overhead camera was seeing would of been nice. Also it would add to the DVD.
C'mon! Who doesn't want a few flames!
There wasn't even a scaffolding for Raine to climb! (like I read in reveiws)

Oh yeah! One more thing, they played that new rendition of "life" which was the highlight song of the concert. IT was much better than the original, does anyone know if I can downlaod it from KAzaa or if someone has it, I'll take it.

i saw creed in summer of 2001 (i am asahmed) and I can not picture OLP playing on a stage like they had with all the flames. To me it just does not go with their music and it would bring ticket prices up. Hoewever I think for the price you pay in Canada a few flames couldnt hurt.

Dude! It sounded waaay different! I can barely remember how it went but the lyrics were the same (obviously), but it was kind of slowed down, sort of...
It could of been a completely new song. And I wish I could hear it again.

Twas my favorite of the evening!
No! I WILL hear it again!

actually, life is sped up in the naveed version of it.
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

Ok, first post on here....

I had a different take on the Edmonton concert than teelow, but his/hers is totally valid.

I enjoyed Finger 11, mainly because two of my friends who were there are the biggest F11 fans EVER. One of my friends took it upon themselves to shout out "I LOVE YOU RICH" during their set.

Didn't like Seether. Too Seattle.

OLP. A good concert, not the best, but that's what you get with a completely different band.

My parents enjoyed the concert, lmfao. I turned around to leave after it and saw my dad in the stands. Wow.

I noticed that there were a few older fans. Maybe 40 and up. Just a few seats away from me was an old lady(50+) and her grand daughter.( i think)

On a unrelated topic. A few day ago I came home and low and behold my mom was blasting Stealing Babies on her stereo.
I was surpirsed....more like :wtf: . She musts bought Happiness because I dont lend my OLP cds out.

That's awesome about your mom!

... and, how does being 50+ make someone an "old lady"??? My parents are both in their 50s, but they're not grandparents, and not THAT old. Geez.
