i look at it this way.

when gravity came out, i was devastated. i nearly cried.

now i don't have high expectations, so if it sucks, oh well. if it's an awesome album, i'll be surprised and really happy.

i'm just not going to get my hopes up just to be let down again.

i hope they prove me wrong.

anyways lately they've been keen on the 10 song limit. I think thats a good amount, it doesn't make the album drag on and you really get to know each song. Any longer than maybe 12 songs and the songs start to got lost amongst themselves

Man if it had 50 songs i wouldn't mind, as long as its OLP... or matt good

I actually disagree with that. With most bands they just run out of steam, but if OLP wanted to, I'm sure they could make a long CD that is solid all the way through, and thus being able to show more creativity on the back end. Maybe stuff a few experimental songs back there for us weird OLP freaks. If Gravity had a "Stealing Babies" or All My Friends" on it I would have exploded on the spot.....like that guy in Scanners....lol

That is all.

Yup, exactly. Hopefully the "broken down" formula used for Gravity can be expanded a little as Rock understands Raine and Steve steps into his own.

someone way back said that olp usually puts out their new albums within a year or two of the last one, but thats not true. it was 3 years between naveed and clumsy and at least two years between clumsy and happiness. that was the promlem with gravity, their wasnt enough time to actually make it a good album, after all it did have potential. all the songs on gravity sound like raine sat in a room and wrote every single song at the same time (with the exception of bbts) so it seems he was in the same frame of mind and mood for every song, so they end up sounding the same. the reason why sm worked was because he had many different views on the same subject, so all the songs are unique. during gravity he had the same view on many different subjects, which is where he went wrong.

Somebody posted that none of their albums are alike, and that's true, but the first four are similar in that they're better than Gravity. I trust Steve's writing for sure though, and I'm quite hopeful that this new one will knock Gravity on it's ass. Another thing is that supposedly their new music is heavy, i.e. Our Time Is Fading, which I still haven't heard yet! Hopefully, we'll get something similar to Tool's AEnima. We DO need a Mellon Collie type album from the band, a CD that's pushing 70 minutes. That would be sweet for sure.

You guys are over analysing. Our Time Is Fading is spectacular, and so should be the new album.

Please... no more complaining about Gravity. I think the next one will be amazing and I personally cant wait for it. If it's recorded in the summer, when do you think it'll be released?

I comPLETELY agree.....the complaining about Gravity has gotten a tad bit extreme. Susan, I know where your bitterness and "it better not suck" is coming from haha, but I understand. I'm not saying it in a downfall type of way.
I'm assuming it'll be the same situation as Gravity. They went into recording with Rock during the summer of '01 and it was released June '02. I'm expecting to see #6 somewhere around early summer '04.

Steve is definately bringing more spark to the group.....the guys seem to be a lot more lively, and I'm for one very excited about the new material.

November.......I just have a feeling about that month. But if it takes until spring 2003, I can wait, holding my shotgun, screaming about the end of the world.
