6th Album....

Post by Neil »

They're going back into the studio this summer to work on the 6th album with Rock...

Insights?

I think it's gonna blow Gravity away.....#6 should definately be amazing. I know it won't be the same without the writings from Mike, but we all have to move on sooner 'ur later right?

I for one.....am STOKED about album #6

the fact that Steve is writing already is amazing. I can't wait till we hear what he'll throw into the mix. Mike was great, but Steve I think really does add that extra dimension that the guys keep talking about

"It better not suck..."

Agreed.
I'm hoping that Gravity was just sort of a transitional thing... maybe Steve's live presence will come through on this album. I really don't know how this album will turn out... since it sounds like they're sticking with Bob Rock, there's a possibility that the new album could sound exactly the same as Gravity. But, then again, OLP have always made changes between albums, so there's a good chance that they'll change again.
I don't know.. I just hope it's good. Obviously. :)

It better not be like Gravity. But then again, no two OLP albums are very similar, so I'm going to have faith.

I mean, if they're planning on making another album just like Gravity, then what's the point of making another album? Gravity, itself, would suffice for that.

OLP would never make two albums that sounded exactly the same. It's just not them...

They would never make a "Gravity II"

I bet a few years ago people would say that OLP would never make a Gravity...

Please... no more complaining about Gravity. I think the next one will be amazing and I personally cant wait for it. If it's recorded in the summer, when do you think it'll be released?

I'm just waiting for OLP to make a monster of an album. You know the kind. Something that borders past 45 minutes of listening time. I'd love to hear OLP attempt something like "mellon collie and the infinite sadness." While with Bob Rock something like that would probably never happen, and i doubt OLP would never want to do an album with a lot of lenth, but hey i can dream. Even a 50-60 minute cd would be great.

you already started a topic about that...

anyways lately they've been keen on the 10 song limit. I think thats a good amount, it doesn't make the album drag on and you really get to know each song. Any longer than maybe 12 songs and the songs start to got lost amongst themselves

I prefer 11 or 12 over ten though. Ten just seems too short

I, for one, am stoked.

This band, in my mind, can do no wrong.

11 or 12 songs would be good, or ten longer songs...

Here's my beef:

I want to see some different unique song structures... On Gravity, it seems that every song has the standard setup:

Intro
Verse
Chorus
Verse
Chorus
Bridge and/or Solo
Chorus->End

I want to see them mix it up a bit. Maybe throw in some rhythm solos (ie, Bass or Drums), and put in some solos in different places. I'd just love to see something other than that standard song structure.
