our lady peace are fucking awesome

Post by starvingeyes »

people. i take back every negative word i have ever said about this band.

last night i took in OLP's show at skyreach here in edmonton. this is one of the two shows chosen for the DVD/Live album. not only can i assure you that both of these products will be everything you would've ever expected from this band, but i can also assure you that they will have on tape the single greatest live music experience ever made by humankind.

holy shit, did this show ever kick fucking ass.

i realized about halfway through innocent, while standing there with my arms crossed while 10000 people sang along, that no matter how hard i may try, i can't hate this band. i can't even hate gravity. they are too fucking good. there is simply no subsitute.

they were fucking incredible last night. every song, even the ones from gravity, sounded totally amazing.

i won't comment on how he stacks up against emtee, but steve mazur is one hell of a fucking guitar player. i mean, holy shit, this guy is good with his instrument.

the show was flawless. my faith is restored. i don't know if this buzz is going to wear off but i hope it doesn't. i am officially worshipping at the temple of our lady peace again.

YAY!!!!

That's EXACTLY what happened to me! I heard Gravity, I was DEVASTATED. I almost cried. It sucked so badly, I wanted to scream. Then, I went to a concert...the songs sounded pretty awesome live. Then I went to another one, and another one, etc, etc. The concerts really made me appreciate OLP even more than I did before. Especially Gravity. I think the songs off of Gravity sound much better live.

When people tell me about how much they hate Gravity, I keep on telling them that they have to go to a concert or two, and it will help them restore their faith in the band, because it did so for me. Too bad that OLP doesn't want to tour Canada backward and forward like they should, though

And about Steve... I'm not a Mazurite for nothing!
HARDCORE!!!

OMG. I can't believe I din't think fo you
until now because when I think on
a scale of one to ten you're like YWELVE.
No, seriously?

I <3 my HLP!!!!!

all i can say is, it was a blast to see them again.

felt like old times. now if only they would do LONGER SETS... 17 songs by my count including a cover tune. That's just "not enough"

:p

I wonder if they'll come back again before they record.

edit: i am stupid. they did 20 tunes. but still. MORE.

 I'm about to pay $176 just to see OLP when they make it somewhat close to me in August .. there's not too many bands I'd pay that much for!

I love hearing people's thoughts when they hear Steve play live for the first time .. hehe .. Steve is so awesome

well getting tickets is no problem...
as for the other two, well ya I see your point, but Walkerton is way too much money to spend on one band,

That depends .. if they're playing both days I'll get to see them twice .. plus I like Bryan Adams. Also tickets are a problem for Rochester cuz I don't have a credit card and can't charge tickets or order them .. it is a festival and the money is for a good cause so I don't see it as a waste of money.

i look at it this way: sure, i own lots of records that are better then gravity, but i own lots that are worse too. hell, if it had been released by some foreign or indie band, i'd probably wax to all my pals about how brilliant it is.

i decided not to hold them to such a high standard. plus i could tell that they really do like the album, like, honestly. if this is the direction they want to go now, that's up to them. i'm just not going to take it so sersiously anymore.

i still miss mike. seeing steve up there was wierd.

Do you think Steve will be a good addition for the next record?? Did you see "the talent" oozing from every pore??
