Not the exact number, but it's more than 500,000 since it went gold.

I wish someone has the answer to this......

I am guessing they are probably at 6-700 000 copies sold in the US and are closing in on 200 000 in Canada. I don't really have any numbers right now but hopefully canoe.ca will publish year end figures in Canadian Music so we will have a better idea. I'll keep a look out for any info I can get.

200 000 is not bad at all. Spiritual Machines just reached that point in November. Check out canoe.ca and see soundscan charts to see how Gravity is faring in Canada. Its a good indicator against other albums. Its one of the top selling metal albums this year for sure.

Thanks for the note on the shipping.......my brain is one big fiasco.

200 000 units in Canada is pretty impressive considering how bad album sales in general have been.

Rock artists have been having a hard time selling records

Besides Nickelback (7 times platinum) and Linkin Park (4 times platinum) rock acts aren't selling well at all.

Especially Canadian acts, MGB barely reached 100 000 units with AOB. I don't even think the Tea Party hit platinum with their last album.

I figure that Gravity will end up in the 250 000 - 300 000 range when it's all said and done. Not as good as previous albums but still pretty damn good.

yup, AJK is right on. I've been a chart watcher now and OLP has been around for 29 weeks and is now in 73rd...........which is a steep drop off. It was up to 50th during Christmas and should hang on some more when thier next hit single is released. I think my friends are starting to dig OLP.....I sang again......and people think that are an awesome band. It was great to see these OLP fans just come out and say that. And a lot of my friends seem to jam along right with "Story About A Girl" when I played it in my car. THat song kicks some private-major ass.

there is a big differrence in how sale work in the USA and Canada.
500,000 in USA is GOld
1 million is platnum and 10 million is diamond
in Canada 500,000 is platnum I believe and 1 million is diamond.
there are also about 8x as many people living in the USA as there are in Canada.

country/capitol/area in square km/population:(as opf mid 2002)

Canada/Ottawa/9,976,140/31,902,268

USA/Washington DC/9,629,091/280,562,489

to who ever asked Gravity SOLD over 500,000 in The USA.
Also the album just reentered the Billboard 200 albums chart at 181

I thought 100,000 was platinum in Canada. I could be wrong though.

No Staley, you are correct.

In Canada 50 000 is gold, 100 000 platinum, and 1 000 000 diamond.

oh, Gravity reached 153 000 copies sold as reported on Canoe.ca. I am not sure how old this source is however but I am assuming it is pretty recent.

i ownder why they jsut re entered the charts at 181---no single or anything. hopefully, they will move up aftre made of steel gets released. i've already started calling stationsm, but it really does no good. even if i call 25 times, there are thousands of phone calls for o town! so my 25 doesnt even make a dent.
