3 best concerts you've ever been to?

Post by dream in japanese »

ok, I know this is hard for people who've been to a lot of concerts but what would you say the top 3 best concerts you've ever attended were?... where, when and who?
Also when I say best I mean everything about the concert was amazing, who you were with, the band on stage, where u were, the setlist, the whole day in general.

ok here are mine: (in no order)

1. OLP- September 10th, in london ontario at the western fair... everything about the day was just amazing, I couldn't of planned it better my self. And the band was perfect, I was in awe the whole time! Plus I met Mike and Jamie before the concert in the food court which was the last time I met Mike ever, so that meant a lot to me.

2. Bush- May 11th, Toronto at the Molson Amphitheatre.... this was my first time seening Bush and I met Gavin before the show and just every moment of that day was perfect. The band sounded awesome and sang every song I wanted to hear. Definatly a breath taking concert!

3. U2- October 13, Copps Coliseum in Hamilton... what can I say, it was U2!!! AMAZING! Everything about the day and the concert was unbelievable!

There aren't a lot of concerts around here to go to, but I know what concert was definitely the best:

OLP @ the WOW Hall in Eugene, OR, 11/30/02.
Tiny venue, close to home, and they debuted Our Time Is Fading and also played The Wonderful Future and Stealing Babies.

Another interesting one was a local band called Gay Nazis for Jesus. They tossed white t-shirts to people with pink "crosstikas" painted on them. Offensive, but hilarious.

Not sure, but Flickerstick was amazing live. ...and of course, OLP is up there. I don't think I've ever had a good concert DAY though. I always end up getting stressed out trying to make things perfect (I'm a major perfectionist) and in college, where I go to most of my concert, I'm usually doing school work until the last minute. It really takes away from the concert day and I hate it, but once I'm there, it's always good =)

Hah, so far everyone's number one is OLP... I wonder why...

1. Our Lady Peace (hah, gotta keep with the trend!) - Villanova University, PA - November 23, 2002:
Best. Day. Ever. Got to hang out with Jeremy, talk to Steve (and he stuck me and my friends on the guestlist), meet Duncan and Mike, and the concert itself was beyond amazing. Plus I was dead center, second row (although, I was pretty much front, since it was GA). Raine sounded amazing. And they played "The Wonderful Future". Just.... yeah. Best. Day. Ever.

2. Green Day - Asbury Park, NJ - June 26, 2001:
Amazing. These guys are incredible live. Plus this show was taped for HBO. I never got to see it (GRRRRRRR), but it was. The day was pretty cool, too. Waiting in line on the boardwalk by the ocean is pretty cool (even if it is run down Asbury Park).

3. Oasis - Camden, NJ - January 8, 1998:
This was my first concert ever. And it was Oasis. Even though they didn't sound their best (Liam was having major voice problems), my seats sucked, and they didn't play the best setlist, it was incredible. Noel's acoustic set was definitely what made it. Although, I probably wouldn't have ranked it here if it hadn't been my first concert. But, yeah, we all know how exciting first concerts are. :)

There are so many more that I've been to. This list actually probably isn't even accurate. I've never seen a bad show... well, unless you count my boyfriend's ex-band, but we won't get into that.

1) OLP in Manchester 17/11/02. Got to meet all the guys outside before the show then snuck into the venue to watch them setting up and ended up spending ages talking to Jer and Steve a staircase. The venue was tiny (450 capacity) and we were front row and the atmosphere was amazing. And they changed the setlist to put in some requests we'd made - Mafia and Thief - it's still the only time I've heard either of those songs. I also got to meet loads of other really nice OLP fans :)

Now it gets tricky. OLP in London on 18/11/02 for just being the biggest show I've seen with an amazing atmosphere, and Paris on 19/11/02 for just being Paris and getting to hang out with Steve and Jer afterwards. But I'll try and think of some non-OLP ones:

2) Red Hot Chili Peppers, London Arena, 26/06/02.
I was stressed at work at the time and managed to get 2 days off, so I spent the day of the concert just wandering around London and the weather was gorgeous and sunny and I got to eat chocolate ice cream in covent garden which isn't much, but made me very happy. And the Chili Peppers were amazing and they played 2 of my favourite songs - Soul to Squeeze and I Could Have Lied - which I wasn't expecting. They really know how to put on a good live show!

3) I'm stuck again. It's either REM at Cardiff Arms Park in about July 1995 because it was my first proper concert, or the Reading Festival Friday in 1995 where I got to see Hole, Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins.

Oh man, narrowing it down to 3's gonna be tough, and I won't include any repeats of bands since OLP would be up there 3 times but:

1. Our Lady Peace - 9/18/02 - State Theate Detroit, MI.
This show was amazing, even though it wasn't taped for the DVD! I was front row, between Steve and Raine! And we won all this cool stuff from OLP.NET for dressing up and making these I Heart OLP shirts, and we got to meet them afterward, definitely an awesome show, and they played In Repair for the first time on tour that night, which made it that much more awesome.

2. The Ataris with Sugarcult, Rufio, Autopilot Off - 11/12/02 - Clutch Cargos Pontiac, MI.
This show was so amazing, me and my sister have been Ataris fans for the longest time, and we (well, I) finally got to see them live. All the opening bands for once were amazing! And the sound engineer had a crush on my sister so we got to watch the concert from the side of the freaking stage! It was so amazing, then after we met Kris and Mike (lead singer, bassist)!!

3. Dashboard Confessional - 10/18/02 - State Theater Detroit, MI.
I thnk this show was so good, because I'm such a big fan, and it turned me on to Hod Rod Circuit, the openers. He's really good live, and singing along with so many other people is a lot of fun too.

Honorable Mentions, lol:
Warped Tour 2002 @ Comerica Park
Thursday @ Clutch Cargos
Goo Goo Dolls @ State Theater
- megan.

3 Best Concerts I've Ever Been Too:

1. Simple Plan and Good Charlotte @ the Kool Haus .. the guys were great and told amazing stories and if I hadn't of been so tired I would have loved that show even more than I did

2. Bush @ the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto way back in 97 I think .. it was my first concert ever and it was awesome .. even though we had lawn seats it was a good experience.

3. Our Lady Peace - no specific show sticks out in my mind over the others because I've gotten hurt at EVERY olp show which puts a damper on things but I still love them

did you get hurt at the ACC concert?
hmm.
My favorite 3 concerts:

1. Birmingham Meet and Greet: June 18th, 2002 Free concert, it was in the basement of a music store, acoustic set, I got Gravity signed, and I met the band for the first time.

2. Dashboard Confessional: October 18th, 2002 Great setlist, great crowd, overall, great concert.

3. OLP-State Theatre, September 18th, 2002: Concert itself was phenomenal, but the crowd was absolutely horrible. Had to hold onto the railing for dear life and got a big bruise on my arm.

hmm. seems as if the 18th is a good day for me.
HARDCORE!!!

OMG. I can't believe I din't think fo you
until now because when I think on
a scale of one to ten you're like YWELVE.
No, seriously?

I <3 my HLP!!!!!
