jesus people give it a rest. who gives a flying fuck who they open for? christ. at this point, it should be clear as fucking day what the direction of this band is, so why sit around and bitch about it?

do you like gravity? ok. then who cares who the fuck they open for, or what age the fans at the show are, or if some chick says raine is hot, or if they end up on TRL some day or on the cover of teen people or what the fuck ever. if you like the album, it's not like all the other things that come with selling out should bother you.

jesus. i don't get you guys at all.

I'm a little late on this, and I don't want to feed the fire or anything....

but who cares? How many times have you gone to a concert and disliked the opening act? Don't make a big deal of something that doesn't even matter. Whether you like Avril or not, they're still going to be at the same show. I doubt OLP arranged it. By the time the concert is over, I doubt people will remember her set, because they'll be so intrigued by one of the best live bands out there.

^^ OLP is opening for Avril .. not the other way around .. so most people there are going to see Avril and will forget OLP by the end of the night .. I don't think people would be as upset if Avril was the opening band .. but she's not .. she's the headliner :)

Trust me, no one there will forget OLP's set and remember Avrils in the long run if anything.

just cuz they are the opener and don't have as much stage time doesnt mean they wont be memorable

Um .. I've seen Avril live .. she has a very young following of fans who are going to see her .. I doubt they'll even know who OLP is .. and once OLP plays their short set, their focus is gonna be on Avril .. I don't think OLP will leave a lasting impression on some of these kids .. it's just a bad pairing of bands that's all .. OLP will be forgotten when Avril comes out .. opening bands are just that .. openers there to fill in time for the main act .. I'm not saying OLP won't be memorable and do a kick ass performance .. it's just gonna be wasted on the majority of these kids probably .. not a big deal

Well then doesn't that defeat the purpose for OLP to even be touring with her then, if that's true, since they'll be forgotten by the time Avril comes on?

It's just giving them more exposure overseas .. with the media and press who will be at the shows .. I'm sure they'll make some new fans at the same time but I just don't think they'll have a big impact that's all ..

the weird thing is OLP just did a headline tour in Europe in some of the same cities. these venues are bigger so the powers that be feel they will get more exposure to people and maybe media.

unfortunately this is a weird tour. I thought Creed was weird but this one is odd. It is good for them if it gives them exposure. But in all honestly unless you are a fan of the support acts, most people only show up for the headliners. Sad but true. I can't tell you how many times I had to rush my friends to get to a show so I can see the support act. I have gotten into many acts by seeing them. I just really feel for the fan who didn't get tickets because by the time it was announced OLP were the support most of the shows were sold out, which is an even bigger slap in the face.

It's a slap in the face for a couple of people, but just a few. There won't be many fans who want to go see an Avril show for 26 euros, just because OLP is opening for her. Especially not in Europe, where practivally nobody has heard of them. That isn't even the point of the whole tour. Sony is trying to get OLP to become a well-known name amongst music fans (of any sort) and especially the media. It's an odd line-up, but it won't do OLP any harm.

So then why is this thread still getting posts? My feelings on this: Let it go. Raine, Duncan, Jer, and Steve are just 5 guys who are doing their job. It's just that, a job. Don't they deserve to make a living? If they want to play with Treble Charger, or Avril, or even N Sync or something, why does everyone care so much? It's their choice, and their life. If they thyink it might get them a little more attention, then more power to them.
Some of you probably think I left. But was I ever here to start?
