And it seems like a LOT of you fans are like music elitists or something. meh.

I think OLP should be very thankful to be touring with Avril. I think she is great. She wrote her album when she was like 16 so if it is not speaking to 25 year old or older people music well then maybe she was trying to speak to her contemporaries, did you ever think of that?? Maybe she is not the 'holy OLP' but she is not some pop crap either. She has done a LOT of touring and promotional work with just her singing and Evan playing guitar. The strength of her live performances like this, and her great songs, are why she is successful. She is not some Britney Spears. I just hope OLP gives as good a live performance as Avril!

Avril may focus more on her singing at concerts instead of guitar playing but who really cares..people go to hear her sing. She can afford to hire someone to play guitar and if it frees up her concentration for singing and interacting with the audience, I say do that!! Anyway, if you are going to the shows, I hope you judge the artists by their music, not their media persona. That's why Avril fans will be there and I am sure they will give OLP the opportunity to prove themselves. I just hope all you OLPers are not going to be like sticking up your noses at the people in ties!

Rock on!¡! :D

Shouldn't have to worry about OLP fans sticking their noses up at people with ties. OLP's singer wears a tie during concerts sometimes, and they let him get away with it . . .

Most OLP fans here definitely judge by the music, which is why many were disappointed with their last album. And I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of us don't like Avril for the same reason a lot of us weren't very pleased with OLP's latest album, but I'm not sure because I've never listened to her.

I hope I don't smell like peanuts :wtf:

Dear Avril fans:
Not all of us believe Avril is completely talentless. In my eyes, she's way better than Britney Spears and that complete crap that is Jennifer Lopez's music. You must understand that we (OLP fanatics) are very passionate fans. We love our band and believe that music channels should only play OLP. OLP should also, be headlining ever show they ever play. We also think its an odd pairing of musicians, as Avril and OLP have a very different sound. I can't wait to have an opportunity to see Avril play live. She's actually suprised me with her singing voice on her most recent single. Most of OLP Canadian fans want to see other Canadian acts do well and are proud of the early success that Avril has received.

But there is no way that OLP must prove themselves to Avril fans. Europian Avril fans should consider themselves damn lucky to have OLP play with her. DAMN LUCKY

Hmm... I could say so much, but I won't. I'll just say, if you gave OLP a listen, you'd see *why* we're music elitists.

I'd go see them play together... because Avril is friggin HOT.

But I do agree, though, it's an odd pairing indeed.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Yes the people on this board are very judging when it comes to other people's taste in music .. I don't mind the Avril touring thing .. if you don't want to stay for her, then leave .. I'd stay .. she didn't write her entire album either .. she co-wrote but wrote the majority .. and she didn't write a note of music for the album, that was her band. Either way, at 16 she has a nice voice and I think once she grows up a bit she'll go a bit farther :)

Why couldn't this thread fit into the other two that we have bitching about Avril? And did this person join the board just to bitch about this? If so, that's pretty lame, and rather shitty.

Not to sound snooty or anything, but who said she was putting down OLP? The title of her post was pointing out that she was finding out who OLP was because she's a fan of Avril's and obviously wants to know something about them before she sees them live. Let's not start something out of nothing, now.

Well, when saying "I just hope OLP gives as good a live performance as Avril" I didnt take that kindly. And for some reason these days, a lot of people think the vocalist is the only important member in the band. Obviously Avril can't play guitar that well and I would rather have someone expressing their two talents at the same time, i.e. Michelle Branch or that type, than someone just bouncing around onstage or "concentrating" on singing. that miffs me. and considering the depth of her lyrics, i dont think it was that far of a stretch or that great a feat for her to write her songs at 16.

Bah, I'm was going to make a counterpoint, but I'm too sick. I'm gonna let the Avril fans fight their own battles. I don't even like Avril.

I just don't want this place to turn into a madhouse.
