i wouldnt do the trade if i was the avs, mclaren is always injured and lapointe is making like 5.5 mill a year, i dont care how good of a third line gritty forward he is, he isnt worth that much to score 10-15 goals, and on the other hand skoula has got good mobility and a powerplay guy(cant have too much of that especially this year) and tanguay as much as hes struggled , hes only 23 and shouldnt be given up on yet, the avs cant be giving away there young talent, the sakic's and roy's arnt far from retirement.

i think the av's are looking at it from the standpoint that they need grit.. and fast..
as good as they are right now in terms of skill.. they need someone like lapointe to muck it up and play hardnosed hockey.. they dont have anyone who truly fits that bill not named peter forsberg or the few others.. they need someone who can play a power forward role.. they have shit-loads of skill with forsberg, sakic, hejduk (i cant spell that guys name lol) umm.. vrbata, nederost and the other young guys.. what they lack tho is someone like a deadmarsh or lapointe or darren mccarty or a keith tkachuk.. they need that kinda player.. as for mclaren vs skuola.. in terms of colorado.. i think it'd be a huge improvement.. skuola is a great kid.. young, great skills.. but mclaren has a great shot.. and worked the powerplay and learned from ray bourque for a few years so mclaren knows his PP shit.. heh.. and to put him in a lineup with derek morris, rob blake and adam foote as your top 3 d.. holy shit .. thats like.. 4 top notch defenceman who would be # 1's everywhere else in the league cept for colorado.. heh.. i mean.. everyone wants a guy like blake or foote.. and with morris and mclaren.. who already play a similar style.. the upside in the long run is huge.. yes the av's may end up losing out w/ the deal in the long run in terms of tanguay and skuola's upside.. but the way they draft.. they dont really have to worry about it..

i mean.. the reason they arent playing as well this year in my opinion is the lack of a power foward type player.. its getting to the point where they have forsberg and sakic on the same line to create the physical play needed for hejduk and sakic to play.. on the other side of the coin.. tanguy becomes a free agent at the end of the year.. unrestricted i believe.. (not sure on that one) so they want to get SOMETHING back for him..
all of this is a rumour tho.. and prolly wont materialize.. just cuz i think boston wants a hell of a lot for mclaren.. he IS theyre top defencemen.. and they wont give up lapointe that easily..
if the deal goes thru... i think colorado will be a hell of a lot better just cuz they get that physical forward they need so sakic and hejduk stay together and forsberg can play with reinprect and have 2 highly talented, physical offensive lines

i think its just a matter of time b4 colorado pulls a trigger on a "major" trade to get the teams ass in gear
go fuck yourself.

As a non-biased fan, i've gotta say. The Canucks are going to be much better than the Leafs this year. I know there are a lot of Leaf fans on this site........ don't get mad!!!

Aaah... the life of a Flames fan. Another 7-2 loss. Great. ONE win in our last ELEVEN games. That is truly pathetic.

How this team manages to average a 93% capacity rate at home is beyond me. We've missed the playoffs for SIX years. AAARGHHH!!!!!!

On the positive, it seems like Gilbert should finally be fired tomorrow. Thank God.

Sorry for my rant.

the canucks, canadiens and sens should do better than the leafs this year heh

unless they somehow manage to get a defenceman who's good to play to go with the guys they have and not somehow give up kaberle or mccabe then they'd move past the sens or canadiens.. but its gonna tough for em to do that..
go fuck yourself.

how can you insult the Leafs
they are just starting to pick things up, and finally Eddie is starting to do something
3 shutouts in 5 games is pretty damn good

what are you talking about?

anyways one thing im sure most people will agree on is, why the hell does ottawa not have Spezza on their team for good instead of having him on the shit farm team, playing in the NHL hes got 10 points in 17 games which i would say is pretty damn good for a rookie

^couldn't agree more...They're wasting Spezza's talent keeping him on that farm team...not to mention might be shaking his confidance sending him down and bringing him back up. 10 pts in 17 games is damn good for a rookie. There are vets who don't put up those numbers...

Couldn't have said it better myself. There's a very good article in Sports Illustrated about the Leafs' whining problem. It's very funny.

Spezza is going to be a great player.

Those stupid Canucks keep on winning!! They look really good this year.

I'm happy right now. Greg Gilbert was FINALLY fired. Hopefully now our GM will get us a "real" coach.

And we are beating the Avalanche right now.

spezza is great
amazing kid
but the keyword is kid.. he's still young and being the "key part of the deal" that sent yashin packing is pretty lofty shoes to fill for someone his age.. actually.. those are lofty shoes to fill for ANY player (unless another already established elite player like a sakic etc) i think the ppl in ottawa understand actually managed to learn from the whole alex daigle fiasco.. not to mention the whole deal with vincent lecavalier who was almost traded last year.. heh.. if they lightning DID pull the trigger on that deal they wouldve been kicking themselves hard.. for a long time to come cuz that kid can skate.. and shoot.. and pass.. and deke.. and score..
not to mention he's got size and he's young
but he's taken some time to develop and the lightning have been patient.. same with the bruins and joe thornton.. they picked him the same year as samsonov.. look at those 2 now.. thornton is the captain.. a leader.. and one of the best power fowrards in the league.. a guy who garners a LOT of respect amongst the league too.. he took longer to develop but in the long run.. he's a better player than samsonov.. the same thing will happen with spezza and i think if anyone knows how to develop kids.. its jacques martin
go fuck yourself.

Bwahaha!! Sabres won 4-0 against the Ducks, and Curtis Brown got a hat trick. Yahoo! Wishful thinking, but I hope that's the game that they needed to put them on the right track. They're not a bad team, I don't konw why they've been losing so much.
