OLP and the Juno's

Post by Brooklin Matt »

I know its a little early to be discussing this, but who do you thinks is going to get juno nominations for this year. I know OLP will at least get 3-4 because their sales have been high enough(some nominations are based solely on sales) and Somewhere Out There was a pretty massive hit......and Innocent isn't faring badly. I've heard it a bunch of times over the past couple weeks.....hehe, that's what you get when you live in the centre of the OLP universe (Toronto)
Also, who is OLP going to be competing against for Juno's. I know we'll probably see Matthew Good in there..............but who else???

I can't sleep and its 4:57 am so excuse any digressions.

Spiritual Machines recieved 5 nominations last year. I believe they had the most nominations then, and they didn't take home a single one. :wtf:

If/when they get the nominations, I'm wagering about 2 or 3. Maybe this year they'll get at least one.

I hope to see Doves get a nomination or two.

Ya, and the JUNO's are in Ottawa so yaaaaaaaaaay!

I see OLP having 2-4 nominations, and hopefully they'll come to the awards/perform this time.

(/I really hope they do. The Juno's will definitely liven Ottawa up..all these cool people milling around)

It'd be cool if OLP hosted ... low odds, but cool if it did happen.

they wouldn't be very good hosts i think, not witty enough, except perhaps for Jer, whose comedy is a little inappropriate TV i'd say

Well this is easy to say, If they make Not enough a single, they will be nominated for atleast 3, and even thats on the low side. Thi year there isnt much competition.

Raine can be quite funny as well.

Some examples from interviews with dutch radio stations:
DJ: Based on the name Our LADY Peace I expected some nice women.
Raine: Sorry to disappoint you, but Steve's got a nice butt.

DJ: We're gonna play a song by a woman called Chantal Kreviazazuk (he can't pronounce it).
Raine: Yeah, she's from Canada, she's hot and I want to get with her.

DJ: We're in the red light district actually.
Raine: What's that?

 I want to hear the interview!

I wonder if anybody ripped it. Probably not.

I want to see that interview that some tv station did in Georgia too. The band let them see the inside of the tourbus and everything. I bet nobody taped it either. :(

Which makes me remember, I still need the Making of Innocent video. :)
HARDCORE!!!

OMG. I can't believe I din't think fo you
until now because when I think on
a scale of one to ten you're like YWELVE.

I love the Chantal one. It brought a smile to my face.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Hmm, maybe I can get to the Junos next year. I actually looked up plane fares for this year when I heard BNL was hosting, but they were $800 or so CDN and I didn't feel like converting, and I didn't think I'd be able to get from the airport to the hotel to blah blah blah. And St. John's, Newfoundland (and Labrador) HUH?

And of course there was the issue of grad school, which I'd miss Monday because I couldn't get a flight back in time; it would land in the middle of class.

Later, I got into a certain band from that city, found out they were playing, and I *didn't* have school that Monday, and I got really mad.

Seven months later, I'm still waiting for the promised videotape. And a whole bunch of people think I actually took a picture of Alan Doyle in leather pants that I keep posting to GBS' official message board. I wasn't even the person who found it on the web!

It's a lot easier to get to Ottawa (I'll be 25 so I'll probably drive if I go) and if OLP were to play I'd be thrilled, if not, I'd still love to go to the Junos. Much better music than the Grammys.

I thought the red light district one was the funniest. Maybe that's cuz I've seen the other two quotes and commented on them already. heh. :P
