suicide?
brother, i don't even know you, but i'm going to tell you what to do.
say "fuck it", have a beer, flip on the TV and watch the game. CBS has Notre Dame v. Navy on right now, it's 9-7, check it out.
and if you start getting down again, go to the local airport, buy a ticket to india and then walk next door to afganhistan. they don't worry about girls or suicide over there because they're too busy dodging amerikan bombs.
you see, i avoid depression with a new wonder drug, perscribed by physicians everywhere: perspective.
have a good one man. relax a little.

you know what else are good?? Anti-depressants. Seriously, if you're depressed, it's most likely in your head. Get some pills, and move on with your life.

see, caitlin, i don't mean to flame, but i whole-heartedly disagree.
i think pills are the problem. too many people want to turn to drugs or be on something because it's like a badge of honor showing how much they've been through.
while i admire the fact that many people on these drugs are trying to take their lives in the right direction, i believe fully that too many folks who suffer from depression are doing it to themselves.
getting on perscritpion tylenol and spending nights thinking about how fucked up you are is not the way to heal. and what's more, it's no way to live.
i've never been depressed, i've never even thought about anti-depressants, but i've been dumped, fired, yelled at, beat up, flunked out and embarassed before at some point in my life. all any of it ever made me want to do was get up, get stronger, and get back out there to kick ass and take names.
all you need to cure yourself of depression issues is self-esteem. self-esteem is not that hard to come by. it starts by wanting to feel good. too many "depressed" kids i meet don't want to feel good, they'd rather be angry and on drugs.
now tell me, what's up with that?

Su7an: I bet Duncan can fly. He's just holding out on showing that skill off.
joe_canadian: Yeah, one day at a concert he'll just stop playing and be like
"Yo muthafuckas! Wheeeeee!" and zoom off into the horizon

Anti-depressants don't always work. I take them and the only time they did something good was at a funeral.
it's gonna hurt, and i love the pain.

Um, I think a lot of people really don't know what they are talking about. I've had clinical depression for a long time. Going on anti-depressants helps an illness. Depression isn't being "fucked up", it's an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. Going on anti-depressants was the smartest thing I've ever done, because I can live my life.
uh, so there.

There's a difference between feeling depressed and having clinical depression. It's not events that give you clinical depression... such as being fired, dumped, etc, like YJ mentioned, it's actually something physically wrong with your brain. If you're going through a bad spell and you're feeling down then YJ's bit of advice is certainly very good one, but if you have actual chemically-induced clinical depression then drugs and therapy might be the only options you have.
That being said, anti-depressants are being SEVERELY overprescribed right now.
