Sad taste in music these days.

Post by Fluffy »

The world is getting sadder and sadder these days.. - created by neogenerationolp at 7/11/2002 09:22am

What happened to the 90's? Me & my friends keep supporting OLP, who used to be amazingly popular in 96 & 97's era where grunge-rock was at it's best in Canada. Now what's with this garbage you call music? Avril? Ashanti? JA RULE?

I find that music is going towards more superficial ideals. Songs about love and heartbreak and promises for each other sound nice, but like cereal, just doesn't quite keep you full come lunch time. The relevance behind OLP seems to make these artists sound ridiculous sometimes........especially competing Hip Hop acts like cannibus and LL Cool J signing songs to each other about how they are both bitches. It makes me laugh that people think this act is cool. Even Hip Hop artists keep talking shit, changing culture and views among kids. This shit gets in their head and brings out the most violent hateful thoughts. There is some real talent out there, and good messages come out every now and then, but for the most part Hip Hop sucks, and so do the Backstreet Boys and their "One Trick Pony" style. Fuck man, they have enough money........would they freakin say something that actually makes me think in the end.

modern popular music is by and large all garbage. we need a revolution.

all the new rock, rap, pop and techno sucks. i cannot even listen to the radio or watch much (except for the wedge and the new music) anymore. they don't play a single fucking song that i don't hate.

^ Good luck gettin that one started. As long as there is money, there is overproduced bullshit.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

i guess they realized that if you make meaningless music with attractive singers who appeal to 12-14 year old girls, you'll get lots of $$$. in a few more years, when the nirvana generation has children, they better set 'em straight. and defently not ozzy style.

:freak: I think people who say all rap sucks or all pop sucks kinda have the iq of tree stumps  Its soooo obnoxious. Just cos you don't LIKE it or don't understand it (or in some cases never heard it) doesn't mean it sucks and the peple who perform it have low iqs. That is sterotypical. All music has its place in the world and ll music is appreiated by someone. If you dn't like it ignore it. You don't have to disrespect the rap or pop community which seems to get the most heat. Personally Im not a big rap fan or a pop fan but I listen to alot of stuff that can be considered pop and rap.

Pop=popular btw.... Than would make olp opo in canada... I suppose not hear cos not many people give a flying fuck about them... Sure theres alot more than there were but we could do better.

Ja Rule fucking rocks. He has a serious talent. If you think rap sucks that must mean that everyone should be able to do it. So try please. Go ahead.

Rap is evevrywhere now, even in heavy metal and pop.

Ex. Linkin Park my fav band. (sorry olp they kicked ur butt...Gravity wasn't enough)

Zebrahead- another awsome band

k I'm sure ou can think of more. Before you sa things suck atleast give them a listen first...

whoever said all rap sucked? some rap is amazing...but look at the media now.

"Pop=popular btw.... Than would make olp opo in canada... " yeah pop means popular but that doesnt mean just because a band is popular means its pop.

"Ja Rule fucking rocks. He has a serious talent." theres a lot more meaningul rap out there.

everything seems so packaged up these days...

im just speaking my opinion so dont pay much attention

OK, look at mainstream rap. Seriously, you're dominated by people like Ja Rule singing about J-Lo's ass, DMX rapping about going to strip clubs and getting his dick sucked, Eminem rapping about killing his mom, Puff Daddy (or whatever the fuck he is now) singing about how much of a bad boy he is (even though he a total pussy, and ended up pinning a gun charge on another man, and now that guy is in jail for at least another 8 years), and LL Cool J having a "fued" with a nobody just to sell records. The only good acts aren't all that popular. I respect the Jurassic 5, they rap intelligently, but they don't get much respect, because they don't bring attention to themselves about killing people, getting dicks sucked, or having a flaming "fued" with another rapper. I don't respect, or tolerate, bands who do anything to get noticed in the mainstream. Instead of singing about killing people, how about you take the time and make a decent record. I would like to see the ad geniuses from Interscope of Def Jam records come up with a way to sell records then....

No need for hate here. We all can't like the same music. I don't like rap music, but I am sure some people do, and they don't like punk or emo music like I do. It's personal taste. You can't hate some one over musical choices or else I'd hate most of you on this board.
