I think Weapon is kind of cheesy."here by my side.......this song blows ass" Its got some strong points "Don't turn your back on me!!!" but for the most part seems to hold back. I guess I wanted more from MG.........back to Strange Days or Hello Time Bomb(he's no Raine with the lyrics though). Those songs are far superior to me.
Oh, and the video just doesn't get me off. It feels like Good boy is trying to sound too intellectual instead of just saying it.........it really takes away from any strong points that the song might hit.
We are, we are all innocent We are all innocent We are, We are oh
any better than.
Wait for me if i don't show up take from me this hypocrits cup and someone to run the world someone would love to have my first world problems kill the moon and turn out the sun lock your door and load your gun free at last now the time has come to choose
Al's emails put a smile on my face, even though all they say is "You've got a private message!"
i can't seem to find that song on KaZaA and it pisses me off.... and those lyrics are some of the simpler things that Raine says. not really good examples are they?
Before we end up taking the worst lyrics from each band and the best from others it comes down to what reaches us more. I find that OLP offers me more insight than Matthew Good Band. You can disagree........hell, that's friggin great if you can see more than I do, but
"OH I, OH I, WAITED!!!!" will always remain forever in my heart with those "SUPAHHHHH SATELLIETES"........
Innocent is layered in cheese........if it was a boy band, but Raine gets his message across a little to simply. Its easy to look at it that way I guess.
That's the beauty of Matt Good, he doesn't need to sugercoat his words to make it sound eloquent. Raine would use all sorts of metaphors and imageries to make his lyrics sound deep and such, but Matt Good doesn't need to do that.
Try downloading "The War is Over", it's a hidden track on that song.
Al's emails put a smile on my face, even though all they say is "You've got a private message!"
sweet blasphemy my giving tree
it hasn't rained in years
i bring to you this sacrificial offering of virgin ears
leave it to me i remain free from all the comforts of home
and where that is i'm pleased as piss to say
i'll never really know
animal1222: I'm talking about Omissions of the Omen, a hidden track in "The War is Over"
I guess the reason that makes Raine's lyrics better is because it's open interpretation, you can interpret it's significants as deep or as shallow as you desire.
Matt's lyrics are more personal, songs like Suburbia moves me like no other song can.
Anyhow, I still think Apparitions is a masterpiece.
Al's emails put a smile on my face, even though all they say is "You've got a private message!"
Raine's lyrics are deeply personal to me as well.........but I also marvel at his imagery and ambiguity that makes you think about it more to see what he is saying. It does have its problems, but most of the time its way more rewarding and even allows your own personal feelings to make interpretations. I think Raine just demands more from your brain that standard fare, and his views on life give me insight I felt I was missing.
