Comparing Album Sales
Comparing Album Sales
I was wondering how the number of CDs OLP sold for each album compare to eachother.
Which of their 5 CDs sold the most/least?
Does anyone know or know where to find out?
Thanks

Re: Comparing Album Sales
In terms of sales in Canada, they are as follows:
[glow=orange]Gravity[/glow]
[glow=green]Clumsy[/glow]
[glow=olive]Naveed [/glow]
[glow=brown]Happiness...[/glow]
[glow=blue]Spiritual Machines[/glow]
Right now, internationally Clumsy has sold more copies (approx 2.5 million), but no doubt that Gravity is going to catch up and surpass that.

That can't be right. Clumsy went diamond in Canada. I seriously doubt that Gravity is even at 400 000 units yet, nevermind diamond
In Canada Clumsy has sold 1 million +, Naveed is approaching 500 000, Happiness is in the 350 000 mark. Spiritual Machinese is around the 200 000 mark.
The last certification i've seen of Gravity was for 100 000 units in Canada. I'd imagine it's pretty much 200 000 by now.
In the States Clumsy is awfully close to being platinum, it might already be platinum..... Gravity was certified gold last month (500 000 units..). It'll probably pass Clumsy if the next single is a hit. I'm pretty sure that Naveed is just under gold status, Happiness..... was around the 300 -400 000 mark. Spiritual Machines didn't do well in the US.

Re: Comparing Album Sales
Sorry my mistake. But in the long run, Gravity will probably pull ahead of Clumsy.
Re: Comparing Album Sales

Not really.
Its selling more in the US because the market is way bigger. I didn't know that Gravity has been given a platinum certaification yet in Canada......I wrote a message on this a few days ago that no one responded to. I know that CRIA hasn't put them up yet. I checked through all the months and no luck.
Where did you see this??? Sorry, but I'm kind of a stats whore.......i would really appreciate it.

Gravity went gold in America (500,000 copies sold)
I would say Gravity is selling better in Canada. 200,000 copies in Canada is way more compared to 500,000 copies in America.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

But then would you love it as much if EVERYONE listened to it?

gravity will not surpass clumsy in canadian record sales.
if you think about it, clumsy is one of the most important records in the history of canadian music and represents in itself, an era of canadian music that was far and above the rest of it's contemporaries. it was an epochal album. none of their other records will sell that many copies in canada.
gravity on the other hand has probably already passed it in the states.
o yeah, and shaggy sucks.

I don't think any OLP album will touch Clumsy in terms of Canadian sales.
Just to give you an idea of how big Clumsy's sales were in Canada.... Only two Canadian Rock Bands have EVER been certified diamond in Canada. The Hip and OLP.
Another quick example... right now it's safe to say that Nickelback is the biggest rock band in Canada by a fair amount. Their album has only been certified as 600 000 units (6 times platinum)
With burning of CD's and a lack of popularity in Rock Music, i don't think OLP will ever hit that certification again. Although it would be great if they did
Clumsy happened to be the right album at the right time...... What a great album it was though

thats so incredible that theyre one of the only 2 canadian bands to do that. it really is. and it IS an incredible album. but it was also because of the time it came out. i mean, if that album came out now, i dont think it would do as well
