Radiohead.

Post by teelow »

I've heard 3 Radiohead songs, Everything In Its Right Place, Fake Plastic Trees and Karma Police. They all are so beautiful.
As far as I know there are 2 Radiohead albums, which one is better? Kid A or Ok Computer?

Oh, and are these 3 songs on one of the cd's, or are they spilt between the 2?

Hey thanks for clearing up the album number thing, I admit I don't know much about the band.

I was kinda hoping for one or 2 cd's to buy... I can't buy all of them...

I feel tempted to burn...

Sigh...should I buy one at a time?

I can't listen to Radiohead .. the music is just so mellow and so sad and I find his voice annoying .. it's the kind of music that just makes you want to throw yourself off a bridge or something .. at least that's how it affects me anyway :freak: I just find their music too depressing :(

The order of album release is:

Pablo Honey > The Bends > OK Computer > Kid A > Amnesiac

And the line goes from rock'n'roll to electronica/alternative, I like Kid A and Amnesiac the most, but other musicians I like includes Bjork, Massive Attack, Matt Good, Portishead, Sigur Ros. I can't get into Pablo Honey and The Bends, but most people would say that OK Computer is Radiohead's best.

(Temporary delurk. I need to post more anyway.)

I'm not sure of the numbers, but OK Computer is generally the most highly praised, or so I've seen. And I haven't seen much, so feel free to correct me.
I've only been into Radiohead for a year or so, and I got the albums in a weird order, unfortuantely I have a problem making suggestions in this case since the three songs you chose were off of my 3 favorite albums by them (I do have them all, those are the three that get put in the CD player the most.)

Have you tried going to a website that sells CDs and listening to quick sound samples? It's not the whole song, of course, but you get the gist of it through those. Works for me most of the time, but that's just me.

I guess my suggestion, if you really want to run out right now and get something, would be to go with OK Computer, since it's what got myself and most of my other RH loving friends hooked on the band. Not sure of how well it sold, but it worked for me :) Your milage may vary, of course.

Teelo: Radiohead are freaking great.

Ok Computer has been their biggest commercial success. Last time i heard, it sold 5.5 million records worldwide. Must be close to 6 million, now.

It's kind of difficult to decide which record is best between Kid A and Ok Computer b/c they both sound very different, so if i was you i'd probably start with The Bends then OKC and then Kid A.

There... I'm finished!

I think The Bends is their strongest album from beginning to end. I'd definitely go with that one first.

My favorite Radiohead album is The Bends. It just seems like an entire masterpiece.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Whoa, thanks for suggestions everyone!

oh, Smokin Monkey, I knew of Radiohead for several years, I just never really gave them a chance until now! Which is okay, now I get to experience them when I can really take the music seriously.

Gah, this is a tough decision, Since people think 'The Bends' and 'Ok Computer' are the best, I'll probably pick one of those.

I kinda wish there was one big cd of Radiohead. Like DVD size.

Oh yes...yes! Yes!!!

Wait, it doesn't exist.

Personally, I don't like The Bends, it's my second least favourite album from Radiohead. The sound is too mellow, constructed, doesn't have the edge that recent Radiohead materials have.

But since everyone loves the Bends, I guess you will too.

This is kind of off the topic, but, on the subject of beautiful Radiohead music, Thom Yorke's solo performances last month were both bootlegged. Paranoid Android on solo acoustic guitar . . .
