Holy guacamole. OLP's imagine cover is freaking incredible. I'd have to say it's their best cover ever. Any challenges to this ?

I'd have to agree that Imagine is an amazing cover, but their cover of Neil Young's Needle and the Damage Done I absolutely love. Raine's vocals put to shame Neil's whiny style and show the true depth to the song.

Imagine is incredible but I also like, Needle and the Damage Done, Dear Prudence, and of course Teardop...I especially like the one live version of Teardrop where they bust into Hope towards the end. :nod:

oh yeah, i forgot about Needle and the Damage Done. I take it back - Imagine is second best. Four years ago i actually bought the whole tribute to Neil young CD for like 34 bucks, just so i could get that one song. talk about obsessed... I was a sad, pathetic youngster. :lol:

personally i think the teardrop cover, at least the recording i have of it, sounds kinda funny. but that's just me.

Dear Prudence is great. The highlight for me everytime is that freakish scream he does at the 2:25 mark. God, I didn't know living creatures could emit such sounds.

EDIT: Not only does Needle and the Damage rock, but it provides a look at Raine's voice between Naveed and Clumsy (the song was recorded in 1996). His voice in most of the verses sound somewhat like Naveed but you can already start to hear that obsessive demented whine of Clumsy (in which we all love). Also, you can start to hear him to start using his falsetto to its full advantage.. (and ohh AIIIIIIII-YO!).

Very interesting stuff, this evolution of Raine's voice.

i havent heard that one...i keep trying to download it but well you know how it is with dial-up connections... but the one where it turns into Carnival at the end is good.
