OLP on Now 11

Post by areusad831 »

As you may have read on Rich and Shellys site or in the news topic Our Lady Peace have been placed on NOW volume 11. For you canadians if you are fortunate not to have this there this is the WORST collection of pop songs in the last 3 months. They join the ranks of Chad Kroeger and Creed along with probarly 20 rap songs.

Everyone go cry in your room because this is exposure OLP didnt need.

^ Lose the "NOOOO" crap, you're messing up the thread like that.

Anyways, So what if OLP is on a compilation cd? I mean, it may be with pop music, but at least they're getting recognized. I know you people don't wanna push for OLP to be the next Creed or anything, but come on, they deserve some respect in America, and by getting this song on the Now cd, maybe some poppy teens will discover what OLP has to offer.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Seriously, it's not the end of the world just cause OLP's on Now 11.

Which brings me to my next point. It's okay for OLP to be on any other sort of compilation, but not Now 11?

In my opinion, being on that CD isnt giving them any respect. They ALREADY have respect in America...i dont think respect is measured by album sales. And I dont know if naybody else has noticed this, but I have never read ONE negative review of any of OLP's albums until Gravity. I've read mannnny negative reviews of gravity, and what the hell do they knw anyway, but my point is, this being the album that got them on a compilation cd....doesn't really have much to do with respect or recognition. look at Now vol. 1---tell me where all thos epeople are. I think OLP are too good to be on such a cd. i'm glad they're getting more recognition and all, but....this doesn't seem like the kind that will get them MORE respect. I think the last thing OLP would want is some "poppy teen" discovering what OLP has to offer and liking it only because they're supposed to.but.....its their music and they can put it on a christina album if they want!!! it really doesnt make a difference if WE feel its good or bad. i believe they know what theyre doing...theyve been around for a long time, so they're obviously doing something right.

Come on people, this is stupid. OLP is on a popular "teenbopper" compilation. So who the hell cares? Good for them, how does it effect us as true olp fans in any way? If a OLP song was good before, how is the music in anyway downgraded when it is included in a crap compilation? Come on people, stop taking the role of "over-protective fan".

You guys are taking this too serious, its not like there a metal fucking band, it would be the end of the world if metalica was on it now, but olp common guys, atleast look at it this way, the CD will now be respectable with olp on, well respectable is still hard to pull out but u know where im going with this

I'm not sure what the big deal is. Yeah, i'd rather not hearin OLP after some Ja Rule song with him yellin "ITS MURDA..." about 4039395393 times... but maybe the exposure does OLP good.

Besides, you American's are getting used to what OLP is up here in Canada. They have been over-exposed like this already. They've already been played on pop stations before Gravity..... now it's happening in the States.

So in summary, not a big deal.

there's definitely been negative reviews of OLP CDs other than Gravity...in fact I rarely read good reviews, most just seem to call them Pumpkins or Pearl Jam wannabees or bitch about Raine's falsetto

You know, it'll officially be the end of the world when OLP is on those Kid's Bop CDs where they have a bunch of kids sing the songs. Then you can worry.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. We all knew this was going to happen.

Really now... What's the worst that could come out of this?

I agree. If you didn't see this coming than you're blind. And nothing bad is going to come out of this. This just makes them more popular and what's the harm in that?

You've never been more right. Those kids will grow up to be neo-nazis.

And just put this into perspective here. Gravity hasn't went gold yet, which means they haven't sold many cds, at all. Clumsy, that cd went platinum in America, which is pretty good, nothing shocking, ya know? But stop and think here, what cd came after Clumsy? It was quite possibly the most introverted cd they could have possibly come out with, even though OLP was supposed to come out with Clumsy #2 and become a rock band like that. Gravity is just a phase in OLP music. I mean, we don't hear prog rock from OLP all the time now, do we? For all we know they could come out with something as great as Happiness...
