Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"

By the way, I'm assuming that this track is fully finished, which is why Raine said it was left off the record rather than referring to it as an idea or a demo.

Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"

I'm pretty proud of this band for releasing something special on a day dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental health. On top of that, the song is great. The first verse melody and lyrics are fantastic.

Re: New Album in 2012 - "Curve" April 3rd

Finally got a chance to hear all this "Grocery List" business... holy shit, this song is Sex! (m)
I love Curve, but I'm starting to think OLP has a knack for cutting out excellent excellent songs.. First Right Stuff now this.. Could totally have seen this as a single...

YES... This was screaming ...

Re: OLP Urban Grind Tour (2012)

That looks right, save for 4 am and Starseed in the reverse order. Oddly enough, and this is not meant to be creepy, I noticed someone in the crowd communicating with you via Twitter, I think. You know when you glance casually around you and pick out small details? That was it: @breebug. I'm glad ...

Re: OLP Urban Grind Tour (2012)

Yeah, the last five songs went as follows:

As Fast as You Can
Is Anybody Home?
Paper Moon
---------
Starseed
4 am (with the house lights on)

It was AWESOME! They played songs from every album except for Healthy in Paranoid Times, which I wasn't sad about, because I've seen A/L/S enough. Haha. The ...

Re: OLP Urban Grind Tour (2012)

So, I went to the Calgary show last night and I've got to say, this was probably the best Our Lady Peace show I've ever been to. I had to go down to Calgary, because Edmonton sold out too fast. Anyhow, I'm sure there were more CMers there, and in fact I think the group up against the stage were ...

Re: Rank Curve (Album & Songs)

After some very close consideration and thoughtful listening in which I gave each song a score and then took the average of the song scores for each album's overall score, this is how I would rank the albums and Curve's songs:

Albums:

1. Spiritual Machines
2. Naveed
3. Curve
4. Happiness...
5 ...

Agreed, but iTunes store > webrip. I'm saving my studio monitors for the CD though. Already, I can hear many more nuances in the iTunes version than the webrip. I'm a happy man.

Re: Rank Curve (Album & Songs)

So, I'm no mathemagician, but interesting results. Thoughts??

I have a thought. Your efforts are worthy of much merit, but the arithmetic mean isn't a permissible statistic with ordinal data. You'd have to look for the median. The problem is that the space between rankings isn't fixed, but rather ...

I listened to the stream quietly, but I would love a rip of it via PM whenever somebody gets around to it. I love this album.

Well, it's an internet forum. It doesn't seem to matter much, because the people who comment on it seem to be acting out of offense in the band's name. Bah. And now there's this meta conversation about it. Haha.

You guys are right though. Of course scratch vocals aren't going to sound amazing ...

Those aren't the final vocals. I don't see how some of you still don't get that. We've talked about and seen the recording process a million times. Build the song with scratch vocals, go back and do final vocals later.

I'm quoting this simply for emphasis!

I don't really see how when somebody ...

Really? It's my favorite off of HIPT. But I can understand not liking it though.

Yep...too much of a simple song with simple lyrics for my tastes. I'm much more of a fan of complexity, so it's never sat right with me as an OLP song. HIPT was an album full of that problem though, if you ask me ...

I think that song sounds awesome. It's second to Wolf from what we've heard so far, just in my opinion. Thanks for the recording.

After hearing all of the new tracks available in various forms online, I really do believe that this album has the potential to shape up to be better than anything released in the 2000s (personal opinion) depending on how the band approaches tracking and mixing. I always thought the key to having a ...

Sorry for my absence. I've been pretty busy with all of life's responsibilities lately. In particular, I've been doing a lot of assessments and report writing. However, I'm almost at a slow period!
