I think they definitely put it on the right album. It wouldn't have fit on clumsy finished copy or demo.

New song out in honor of Bell Lets Talk day! The link to download and save seems to only save a copy of Immune at the moment, but the player on the TH website plays "Hurt Yourself" just fine. Pretty clear by the sound that it was done during HIPT recording session (even if Raine hadn't mentioned it) and I have to say I love the sound! Seems like a very well-rounded song, and it must have made it pretty far along in production. TH just keeps on giving!

Sounds like something from Spiritual Machines, solid release!
Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"
I like this better than some of the tracks on Healthy, but it sounds like most of their tracks from that era (Which isn't my favorite OLP era, namely because it lacks raine's vocal complexity). It also sounds like they ended up trankensteining this track into a couple of other songs. The lyrics and what not sound reminiscent of some of their other stuff... "nothing left to lose" was used in that Never Ending White Lights song, wasn't it?
I like the message though, and its fitting considering their current promotion today for mental health awareness.

Is this a completely unknown song from the HIPT sessions or did we know about it before? The title rings a bell.

There's Save Yourself and Yourself as unreleased tracks as well, thought the same thing too.
Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"
Why the hell did they leave this off of HIPT? I'm loving these health b sides way more than any of the songs that made the album. Hurt yourself is a gorgeous song. The melodies, the lyrics, the energy on the track. It's very from the heart. This and immune brought back why I love the band so much.
and if i don't make it know that i've loved you all along.

Holy crap, another fantastic song! I can see this one touching a lot of people. What a shame it wasn't on the album, but better late than never!

Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"
I really really really like the song..i also think that this is could've been a solid single for radio...and i'm going crazy if i think other material like this that was scrapped from HiPT...Can't wait to hear more! And i'm going crazy also if i think what the album could've been...however i can't make my congratulations enough to the band for The Vault...this was a great move for the fans!

It's hard to believe that in some alternate reality universe that OLP is set to tour in support of their latest and best album "Healthy in Paranoid Times 4 - Even Healthier". The quality tracks keep on coming...

According to a reliable source this one was represented in the list of songs shown in the 2004 holiday greeting, but at that time it was known as "End of the World."Forky Meets Porky wrote:Is this a completely unknown song from the HIPT sessions or did we know about it before? I'm pretty proud of this band for releasing something special on a day dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental health. On top of that, the song is great. The first verse melody and lyrics are fantastic.

Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"
It's sad to say, but I think a lot of these songs were cut in favor of lesser politically charged ones.......Raine has done wonderful things in Iraq and Darfur, I just wish he had waited until after the album dropped to visit....
Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"
Probably A push by Sony, considering the radio climate of the time. American Idiot and all those other political songs were so big. By the time Healthy dropped, it was starting to simmer down. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

By the way, I'm assuming that this track is fully finished, which is why Raine said it was left off the record rather than referring to it as an idea or a demo.

I am so proud of these guys putting out such a great song to help people. It definitely touched me personally and I loved it.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I think this song is just really really bad.
