"Elsewhere, Our Lady Peace spend Burn Burn aping Coldplay and U2. "Never Get Over You" and "The End Is Where We Being" sound particularly like Chris Martin and company. "
I wouldn't take a review serious from people who can;t spell.
So I'm a longtime OLP fan that really expanded my musical tastes in the last five or so years, and of course I had to listen to the new album anyway. I haven't read any of the reviews or general impressions here, so these are pretty unaffected by anything but my own ears.
What songs were aired from this broadcast? I should grab it.
I'd like to relive some of OLP live. Last time I watched or saw anything of the sort was when I saw them in Philly in September, and I had a fucking great time at that show. The boys owned.
Remember when the ancient 2003 (!) Christmas greeting came out and the then titled "Don't Ask Why" was on it, and how excited we were for the song, that we wouldn't hear for another two years?
I do like what OLP did with some of HIPT, and I think it does show that they are "evolving" in sorts. OLP has always been a pop-alt band that's easy and fun to listen to without being boring and trite, and I respect them for that. They aren't revolutionary or music-scene-changing, just fun and ...
I still think OLP should do like a "documenta-video" detailing the crisis in Darfur with Al Genina playing. It could kinda be like the Thief video, for a good cause.
I personally think that could work really, really nicely.
