Re: 2023 tour

Nice, Matt! So I saw this tour back in Calgary and it was amazing. Really glad they're bringing it to the US. I actually thought "All My Friends" sounded decent in Calgary, but I also could've just been stoked to hear it. A little jealous of Potato Girl, I haven't seen that one live in a long time ...

Re: Spiritual Machines II Discussion

This set list looks great, very happy to see a few of these up there, especially Everyone's A Junkie! We're flying up to the Calgary show this Saturday and I can't wait!

Raine on Chris Demakes A Podcast

I've started listening to Chris Demakes A Podcast, where each week he sits down with an artist and they do a deep dive into one of that artist's biggest hits, breaking down the song stanza by stanza. Raine was on recently to breakdown Clumsy and I thought it was really interesting. Here's the ...

Re: General OLP News

This has me extremely excited. Hopefully they use similar sounds/themes/styles as the first one! The vibe of that album from start to finish is my favorite of theirs. I'm really curious if the current state of the world we're living is pushing them to revisit SM?

Re: General OLP News

I heard it, wish I'd tried to record it. Definitely a different guitar sound and general feeling than their last couple of albums.

Re: Our Lady Peace x Spiritual Machines 2020

It's gotta be... and I'm stoked! When they did this album front-to-back in 2010 (I think), I saw them in Buffalo and it was amazing.

Re: Ranked: The Ultimate Showdown Part 2

It's still 4am for me, and will probably always be. It has a special place in my life, plus I think it represents the first time Raine was really writing from the soul and telling us his story... basically using the music to help heal.

Re: Ranked: The Ultimate Showdown Part 3

I went with Spiritual Machines.

I used to be a huuuge fan of Clumsy, but recently I've been listening to the first 4 again and man, SM is solid through and through.

Clumsy I think has the greatest number of A+ tracks (all the singles are solid gold, and there's a reason this was their breakout ...

Re: Ranked: The Ultimate Showdown Part 1

Props to Matt, this was a great idea, and a good wander down memory lane. I still listen to a lot of OLP, but this made me really think about some songs I haven't "thought" about in a while... only listened, sang along, then moved on to the next, instead of analyzed.

Re: Ranked: Clumsy

Probably a fairly common answer for this album: 4am, hands down. Still my favorite song. I bought the hand written lyrics from Pledge. Growing up in North Carolina, it was the second OLP song I ever heard (behind Superman's Dead) and it changed my musical life I love the whole album, would sit and ...

Re: Ranked: Naveed

Great album. This one really got me into OLP. I'll go with the title track on this one. I've kind of becoming a little sick of it, because I've overplayed it so much over the years. But this was my favorite OLP song for so long.

I overplayed it a bit trying to get the timing down on the guitar ...

Re: Ranked: Naveed

Probably a common answer: Naveed. Denied is a really really close second, probably followed by Starseed and The Birdman. I also think I'm one of the few OLP fans who never really latched on to Hope. Very good song, but it just never clicked with me like the rest of the album.

I never really liked ...

I'll likely be the only vote for Sell My Soul . The intro and opening lyrics just always hit me, I love it. Probably followed by A Story About A Girl and All For You

Not my favorite, but damn I love that song, especially the crescendo they reach toward the end of the bridge (I'm bleeding by ...

Re: Ranked: Spiritual Machines

My favorite album! So many good songs!! However, my favorite song is probably an outlier: Everyone's a Junkie. The bass line is AMAZING, I love the seemingly straightforward lyrics, but some ambiguity thrown in ("But I'm really not that different / You just made me think so"... is that a positive ...
