Instead of spamming up the Dvd topic I made a new one for HP goodness 8-)

So there's going to be a 3rd new director for the 4th movie, neither Chris Columbus or Alfonso are doing it .. Mike Newell, whoever that is was chosen and he was against the studio's original idea of adapting the 734 page book into two separate films to be released several months apart, figuring that he could cut enough of the book's bulky subplots to make a workable film.

2 movies would have been better

Alfonso CuarĂ³n was offered the chance to direct this installment in the series, but declined as he would still be working on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004).

The Dursleys were cut from the film due to time constraints :(

Mike Newell only received $1 million to direct (whereas Chris Columbus received $10 million plus a percentage of the gross to direct Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone.

Great, this isn't looking good :(

well maybe this mike newell guy won't be too bad .. but he did direct 'mona lisa smile' :uh:
and also 'four weddings and a funeral' and 'donnie brasco' .. neither of which i saw

gah and Hp and the order of the phoenix won't be coming out until 2007 and the only actor confirmed to come back is the guy who plays Lucius Malfoy .. a news show said Daniel is coming back for #5 but it's not definite and in writing yet, Tom said he wants to go to college. JK better hurry up and release book 6 and 7 too.

HP#5 will be directed by David Yates :freak:
Come back Chris Columbus :(

It was a bad idea in the first place to make HP into movies... It wasn't thought through very much. I assume it's because the dollar signs were too big and got in the way of any other thoughts.

Or not .. I think it was a great idea to make them into movies. I'm happy with all of the HP movies and think they did well with all of them so far.

I definitely think the movie have been great. I just think they should have realized that there would be problems with making 7 movies, especially when they knew the books were going to be 600-800 pages eventually.

I agree with the movie thing. There was absolutely no point other then money.

plus there's the whole 'I think their crap' thing.

i think she should have wrote movie scripts that related to the book but werent exactly the same in between the books. Like one between 2 and 3 then between 5 and 6 and another one at the end or something.

she's still writing books 6 & 7 .. i don't think she has time to write scripts inbetween those :P plus she's not the one that actually writes the scripts for the movies .. does anyone know when the tentative date for book #6 is? or if there even is a tentative date? right around now would have been perfect since it's just before christmas.

It's not even finished yet! We have a while to wait yet. Some rumors say January, but we would know if the book was being released that soon. I'm saying that the Pure Blood Prince will be out in 2006, but thats just my opinion.
