So has anybody else checked them out yet???? I downloaded "Contraband" off of Suprnova, but I haven't listened to the album yet.

I always hated G&R, but that was mainly because I couldn't stand Axl. I've already heard that Weiland plans on playing old G&R tunage at their shows, and he's very pumped about it.

I could actually wind up liking old G&R tunes if Weiland does them. "Don't Cry" could possibly grow on me.

i've heard all the hype but none of the songs. Here's to hoping Scotty can stay out of rehab long enough to do a tour.

Don't hold your breath for a great band here. It seems too much like a super-band, and those never work out for a long time. Anyways, as we speak, Weiland probably has the needle in his vein, so it's only a matter of time before he has to go back to rehab.

I actually love VR. Saw them a few weeks ago in NYC/Philly and possibly going to their AC show at end of month. I am a big Duff, Slash, Matt fan and I love Weiland.

They are doing their own songs. Here is the songs they did/doing

Suckertrain, Do It For The Kids, Headspace, Crackerman(STP), Illlegal I, It's so Easy,(GNR SONG) Fall To Pieces,Big Machine( AMazing Duff moment with the opening Bass Line.), Set Me Free.
the encores: Use to Love Her,(GNR) Slither, Sex Type Thing(STP)
2nd encores: Brownstone(GNR) , Negative Creep (NIRVANA-on Jap release and as download from bestbuy.

I don't think of them as a supergroup. I am just glad to see basically GNR playing live again. Camp Freddy wasn't enough.
It is funny cause in interviews with them they say that their are alot of young fans at the shows that maybe never got to see GNR or STP. I can attest to that. I think the kids next to me at the Philly show were about 16. The last time I saw GNR was about 12 years ago.

BYW. one of the moderators on the VR board gave a shoutout to OLP. they go tthe DVD and told people to get it cause this band was a goo dlive band.

I love the cd.......I can see why Rolling Stone gave it four stars.

I'm sorry, but that's one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Rolling Stone magazine is a joke. Even if they gave the CD a good review (apparently) I wouldn't take anything they ever say to heart. They give a bad name to music magazines.

Anyway, I like the CD. It's much better than I thought it would be. Audioslave this ain't.

Yeah Audioslave was the better of the two superbands. Mainly because Chris Cornell was always better then Scott even in the grunge days.

was always better? i think that's a matter of taste. While I love soundgarden/chris cornell, i prefer scott's voice. There aren't too many bands where the lead singer's voice can change so dramatically from album to album (or from song to song) and still be distinctly his own.

I prefer older STP to their newer stuff, but for Soundgarden I'd say they stayed pretty much as great throughout all of their albums. However, both STP and Soundgarden are two of my favourite bands and both Audioslave and Velvet Revolver are great bands too.

not many rock singers in our time have pipes on them like Chris. No ones can scream like that man

I really hate how people are calling Audioslave and Velvet Revover super groups  cause they compose of memebers of well known, loved bands.

they are new bands with memebers of previous bands. A supergroup to me is a band compose of members of existing bands as a side project ect. Not a completely new band.

saddest thing though is you won't really get to hear/see G n'R, STP, SG and RAM songs done live. Sure the bands will do a few covers of their former bands, but it is not the same. Pity though cause all the bands had some great songs.

BTW. I love VR cause Iam a big Scott, Slash, Duff and Matt fan. I saw them last month and it was amazing. Hoping to go to their Atlantic City show in 2weeks.
