Awesome. I'm definitely going to this one. Has anyone ever attended a show at this venue? If so, how was the experience, sound quality etc.? Thanks.

What do you want to know?. I have seen OLP here everytime they played. It has become their *HOME* in NYC.
It is GA. Holds about 1000. Anywhere you stand is a good spot to see band. Sound is good.
They have the March/April 01' shows on the Hub I believe..

If anyone hears anything about when tickets go on sale, please post it in here. I think I'm going to make a trip out to NYC and this would be an awesome thing to fit in to the sched. Thanks!

I'm excited for this one. I guess my only question would really be how you feel this venue (though I'm sure comparable) stacks up against those I've mentioned. Thank you for your insight.[/quote]
From what I remember, Hammerstein Ballroom was a larger room and the sound was not as good. The sound at Irving always seemed to be near perfect. Hammerstein had those balconies that would echo if they were not completely full. When OLP opened for 3EB there, they sounded better than when they headlined a few months before that. OLP headlining and OLP opening for Creed at Irving are times when I remember them sounding great. Although, IMO, the best venue to see a show in NYC was/is Roseland. When I was at Webster Hall, it was still a dance club and had not changed over.

It is not listed yet on the venue site. I can get you a ticket..My other friend said she might come up also for the show.. I doubt they will really be more then $20-$25. I am getting an extra ticket or two anyway cause I know people who might want to go. I work right near the venue so you will only have to pay $2.00 extra for the ticket..
PS -TODD OLP has played Irving about 7 times now. I missed the July 1997 one with Better then Ezra( in Vegas then) I think Matt went to that show. I have seen a bunch of shows at Irving. It is my favorite venue next to Bowery Ballroom..
As for size- Irving holds about 1000, Sound is pretty good. Crowds can get crazy but that is almost any show really.
Hammerstein is about 5000 people and I really hate that venue.. Sound not so good and the SHIRTED USHERS are the worse..
Bowery is a great small place. Holds about 500 and you can meet almost any band there. They hang out in the bar downstairs after the shows mostly. I love the sound and the high ceiling.
Webster Hall is about 1500. That is the old RITZ venue so it has been around for years. A fun place to see a show but the OLP show was so empty. Probably cause they played a few weeks earlier the two shows at Bowery..
You will have fun there and you will remember the show for a long time to come..

Aww, thanks Gail! However, my actually going to NYC is going to depend on a lot of things leading up to the show so I'll get the ticket on my own when my plans are a little more solidified (aka whether or not I get this teaching position I'm interviewing for soon).
I feel like there needs to be a big CM meetup for this.
