AFI - Decemberunderground

decemberunderground coming out june 9th, or 6th, either way i won't be in the country and that makes me sad.
anyways.
the new single miss murder is out to radio right now, what does everyone think? first impressions, i like it a lot, very poppy so it'll throw off a lot of fans i think, which is fine, althouh i have to see if i like it after a few more listens. and yes, i'm mad at my shift key right now.

I'm a bit wary of this song. While I like it, it sounds a lot like a few other bands on the radio these days, namely Greenday. The sound similarity has mainly to do with his voice though, which has lowered considerably and is a lot more polished. I suppose that’s what voice lessons do for you.
I'll definetely pick up the album though. I've been looking forward to it since "Sing the Sorrow" which is easily one of my favorite albums ever.

they spent 4 fucking years on a new cd, to come out sounding like green day?
i hope this single is not representive of the rest of the album.

I would not say they sound exactly like Greenday. Much about the sound is more interesting, and better written than much of Greeday's stuff. The first few riffs sound like Holiday, but as the song progresses it gets better, and more complex. Plus you cannot really fault Davey for wanting to improve his voice.
Regardless, I agree with you to some extent. In no way is Miss Murder better than Girls not Grey, Leaving Song Pt. 2 or any of the singles from Sing the Sorrow.

oh... my ... god.
what the hell has happened to my beloved AFI... there are few bands left that havent completely destroyed their sound... and AFI was one of them...
and now they have gone too... so sad.
daveys trademark voice... gone...

yah, davey's voice sounds bad bad bad on this single
and, i think sing the sorrow was good but the art of drowning was better
answer that and stay fashionable was the best

I love AFI to bits, but I find Miss Murder is only so-so. Nothing compared to the STS stuff. But I'm still fairly excited to hear the rest of Decemberunderground.
