"This time, the number of specific comments about James Blunt were more than we have ever seen for one particular artist.
“It was quite staggering. People said, ‘Can you get rid of him?’ ‘Can you ban him?’ Even people who say they are fans of his songs go on to express that they’re sick of it.”

Edited to quote Sarah's post... stupid pagebaby

WTF...that if freaking weird. Why ban someone when you can just like...listen to a cd or something instead.

Well, for one, a radio station can't just listen to a cd.
I think it's just a point that people are sick of hearing James Blunt and his transvestite-deep rasp crooning unintelligable lyrics. And considering enough people in that area complained about him, one radio station banned him. That's all.
And just remember, it's one small radio station in Great Britian, so for 99% of the board, it doesn't effect them.

I can't stand him.
It's hard to just ignore him when he's played every hour on the radio, and the person on the other side of your cube is playing the station that does that.

radio stations already filter everything... it's not like radio play is fair and uncensored. This doesn't bother me... and it wouldn't matter who the artist was it still wouldn't bother me.

New Beck album in the fall.
http://www.filter-mag.com/news/interior.3262.html
Ah, Fall! Things that are already awesome about Fall: crisp golden leaves, the nights drawing in, the weather cooling down, and a new season of The OC. However, Fall is about to get even more awesome, because Beck is planning to release his new album during that glorious season too!
The as-yet-untitled album was produced by Nigel Godrich, responsible for Beck’s Sea Change and Mutations and long-time Radiohead cohort. If they stick to this scheduled release date, the album will be released only a year and a half after his last studio album Guero, and less than a year after it’s remixed cousin Guerolito.
Incidently, if you were planning on visiting Europe, now would be a good time as Beck will be supporting the Radiohead boys at their shows in Edinburgh and Dublin before heading off to hit the European festival circuit.
Of course it could get pushed back til next year, but this make me excited since I think both of the Godrich-produced albums are actually his strongest.

I dunno if anyone else cares much, but Nelly Furtado's new album, "Loose", is due to be out in stores June 20, 2006.
She will be performing her first single "Promiscuous" with Timbaland at the 2006 MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday, June 18 (aired 9pm EST on MuchMusic).

I really liked her, saw a couple of shows a few years ago, and I was hoping she'd come out with something new soon. Last month I saw an interview about how she feels more womanly and sexual and her new album reflects that.... and then I heard the first single and I didn't like it. I used to think she was really unique, but that song (IMO) sounds like it could have been done by any of 12 other top 40 artists. So yeah, I'm not to thrilled for the CD. I'll probably preview the tracks online to see if I like them.
/my two cents

Is that the song in all those stupid cell phone commercials?

Yes it is.
I'm actually glad she went back into this dance hip hop scene. There were obvious influences of that in her first album but the second album lost all of that. You know, I think down the road this chick is going to have one very diverse collection of music.

11th for the U.S., actually.
I think the new Nelly Furtado song is a joke. It does sound like a million other people, and the lyrical content is certainly something her daughter can be proud of when she's older. To me, it sounds like a cheap attempt to sell more records because her last album didn't do as well as the first.

it doesnt seem like a marketing move to me at all. the song is certainly better than anything off the 2nd album, even without all that "sexual liberation" crap. but then... to each his own.
