and as for Chris Pronger and Eric Brewer

Pronger is only 30 everyone thinks hes older for some reason, he can completly change a game with his play, he can make a power-play work pretty much all by himself, hes a great leader and he gives the Oliers a real franchise D-man

Brewer is 26 doesnt have much offensive potential, and finds himself out of position too often, but he is still a very good young defenseman

Doug Lynch and Jeff Woywitka are pretty decent prospects tho, more so Lynch then Woywitka i think

to give up brewer, lynch AND woywitka for pronger is too steap in today's league w/ the cap unless of course pronger agrees to a long term deal worth a relatively low amount (ie. 4-5 mil per) and as long as his wrist is fine longterm as well as his other issues physically

sign Allison for one year with bonus options in his contract
like if he plays X amount of games hes gets X amous of dollars extra

if he scores X amount of points hes gets X amous of dollars extra

since hes injured all last season the bonuses dont count towards the cap

they should do the same with Lindros, and im one of the people who thinks that they should take a chance on him because if his head doesnt explode he can still be a dominant player

the bonus would count towards the cap in some form.. i think/assume it would be added to next years cap figures (so they'd lose X # of dollars)
but given a lot of folks think next years cap will be lower then this years (possibly 4 mil lower) the money they lose could be huge

whos to say if Lynce and Woywitka will ever pan out
and although a very good defenseman Brewer doesnt really make players aware of his presence on the ice like Pronger does and Pronger is definitely a mean prick when he plays that can run over just about anyone in the league

thats besides the point tho
sure hes a mean prick
sure hes a great d-man
hell i'd love to see him patrolling the habs blue line
but having said that, i wouldnt put up 2 prospects (one considered a legitimate bluechipper in woywitka) and a fairly good/young d-man just coming into his prime for a guy who's had to rebuild his wrist significantly and at one point was feared to have lost his career heh

the money does count towards next season, but if they have to pay it out to him thats not really a bad thing because he would have obviously played very well to reach those bonuses

with the Leafs there is also some big money right now that wont be their next season, like Eddie will probably be gone after next season due to his age
thats 4.5 million

i also want to see next offseason because there will again be a lot of UFA's

he also has to agree to it
which he may not given he has adamantly claimed that once his rehab was done he'd be perfectly healthy
