That's no excuse for not helping someone, that's just selfish... Not helping someone at all (which would make me feel incredibly guilty) just because you don't want to fail?
If I did all I could and they still killed themself, then yes I would still wonder if I could have done something different to help them, but it would be nothing compared to the guilt I would feel from sitting back and allowing it to happen. I would have at least some level of the guilt gone knowing I did all I could do.

i'm not saying just sit back at all though... it's just like if you try and help the person too much it will mess you up in the long haul if they do do it( personal experience more than once) or you get so consumed it just turns into a bad situation. i think you should try and talk some sense into them for a "brighter" future and if they still sad and saying the things they are tell someone close to them but half the time the people have their minds made up the other half just do it on impulse because they have a severe tugging at their heart... imagine what that feels like. how do we and the person know things will actually get better? some people just aren't adapt to fitting in and things like that, theres a lot of crap in this world and half the time docs just give pills to whoever and put them under heavy counseling.
if it does end up happening of course im sad but i don't blame the person. there is only so much that can actually be done and i can just be glad that the person is out of their misery. it hurts everyone around them but why should they live for us? why should they be in so much pain to make the ones around them happy? i just think people should be able to do what they want as long as they aren't hurting someone else physically...

and if i don't make it know that i've loved you all along.

I'm glad to hear that guy is getting some help. I hope he sought it out on his own, and not because of other factors.
There is never any guarantee that someone's life will get better. I'm not a psychologist. It wasn't my major, and I can't claim to have any expertise in mental health. However, I've been dealing with people of all walks of life for the last 13 years. I can read into them better than some. It's far better to attempt to help someone who is feeling depressed and suicidal, than to sit back and watch it unfold. By help, I don't mean you diagnose their problem or drag them to an institution. I mean help by sit and listen to them attentively and patiently. Don't judge them, and offer support and positive reinforcement. Show them how their life has importance and value, so they know that the world is better off for them being here.
None of us on here are mental health specialists, with the exception of Rob, Robbo, and Bethany, but that doesn't count since they aren't active anymore. If we reach out and try to help, and somebody makes the selfish choice to end their own existence, it doesn't make you a failure. Naturally you are going to be sad because of the emotional investment made. I can rest better knowing that I tried, instead of just doing nothing.

I think it is wonderful that everyone had a concern and jumped in to help, especially Matt. Having met Matt, I know how much of a real, genuine person he is.
That being said, debate on this topic could go on forever. I suggest ending it here and moving to another thread....just to preserve the topic of this specific thread for General OLP news.
Thanks

I think that they'll play 1 or 2 song into the tour pre-release date otherwise they reveal the album before the release date....

Unfortunately, I discover OLP in the far 2005 after listening of Whatever(because i fellow the wrestling), after this day i listen only theirs....this is my first official release that i live....

I'm late to the conversation, but serious serious kudos to Matt and Trustworthy for giving MySpace the heads up about that poor kid. I'm so glad the police got there in time for him.

I just got an issue of Hello Canada for mah birthday with Raine and Chantal on the cover and a 7 page spread of them with their kids. It was from Dec. 2008. Have you guys seen this? I know a lot of you folks are into the interviews and such.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

I have this! I don't think it was a seven page spread, though. It was of them opening gifts, right? It was very cute.
