I went to see the Flaming Lips last night and it was amazing. Given that I only knew one song well enough to sing along to and 2 others I recognised, it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. We ended up on the front row in spite of getting there an hour after the doors opened cos there was just no-one in there then! It filled up later though and it was the biggest show they'd ever played so they were really happy. And we had loads of big balloons to play around with and got covered in confetti (lots of which is now on my bedroom floor!) and got to jump around and dance and stuff. And they covered 7 nation army and they made us all sing white christmas at the end and the drummer came down and gave everyone on the front row a hug which was really cool.

F11 tomorrow :) :)
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

What songs did they play?
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

it was more like I was laughing at the irony of her not being able to go.

i try not to laugh at anyone's music, because i listen to a lot of stuff people make fun of me for myself.

Fortunately that was a couple of nights earlier in Birmingham. All the animal people looked so hot though.

I saw F11 last night. It was a great show in a small venue, which was sadly not even half full :( They played 17 songs which more than makes up for the other times I've seen them. The setlist was: Above, Absent Elements, Other Light, Complicated Questions, Quicksand, Suffocate, Costume for a Gutterball, Sad Exchange, 1000 Mile Wish  (which Scott said he really wanted to sing, they seemed a bit fed up of doing 30 minute support sets and glad to do a proper show), Last Scene of Struggling, For The Ocean, Obvious Heart, Tip, First Time, Awake and Dreaming  , One Thing and Good Times.

I can't wait to see them again on Sunday with Evanescence.

The Brandnew show is sold out? That isn't good. I need to see Hot Rod Circuit.

Oh wait, my friend from 89X is taking me to the show for free. I think I am still going to walk out on Brandnew though. It's all about the Hot Rod, baby.

Belle and Sebastian tonight, motherfucker.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Muse was good. Crowd was awful. I don't mind a little jumping or even mosh pits but this was just pushing, mostly people who came late and still wanted to get to the front. Really annoying. After a while we just went to the side so we could actually enjoy the music instead of just fighting to stay upright.
Cave In was excellent too, but I think I was about the only person who liked them. Not the best combination, Muse and Cave In. But it made me happy, they also sold their album Antenna for only 5 euros, so now I have that too.
