i must agree, Smarties are much much better then M&M's. M&M's choclate tastes like crap! But of course so does almost all hershey's choclate. There's a story behind this:

In the beginning, so-and-so Hershey, an american businessman decided to start his own choclate company. Unfortunatly he was quite ignorant to the correct way of making choclate, and during the process the milk was given a chance to begin to sour. None the less he continued to sell his choclates and to this day the same process is still used. Hershey's still conatins partly soured milk, which explains it's unique (and crappy) taste.

yes, hershey's chocolate does taste like shit but i'm pretty sure that they don't make chocolate for m&m/mars, which is the company that makes m&m's
